Verba: Word of the Day Alarms

Build a vocabulary you can actually use. Most vocabulary apps show you a word, you swipe, and it’s gone by lunch. Verba takes a different approach: one word of the day, reinforced through three short vocabulary alarms, so you can remember it well enough to use it in conversation. HOW IT WORKS Verba is a daily vocabulary builder powered by alarms and active recall. Choose when your three vocabulary alarms go off. Each session takes less than a minute. MORNING: LEARN YOUR WORD OF THE DAY Your morning alarm introduces today’s vocabulary word and keeps ringing until you complete the challenge. Say the word out loud, practice its pronunciation, and learn its definition. MIDDAY: RECALL IT Your second vocabulary alarm tests what you remember. Choose the correct meaning, then explain the definition from memory by speaking or typing. EVENING: MAKE IT STICK Your final word alarm checks whether you truly learned it. Recall the word and its definition one more time before the day ends. SPEAKING IS THE POINT Learning vocabulary should be more than tapping flashcards. Verba gets you to say new words out loud, practice pronunciation, and explain what they mean. Your answers are graded semantically, so Verba checks whether you understood the meaning, not whether you repeated an exact sentence. Prefer typing? Every speaking challenge also has a typed option. OLD WORDS COME BACK Learning a word once isn’t enough. Previously learned vocabulary resurfaces during future daily sessions for quick recall challenges, helping move words from short-term memory into vocabulary you can actually use. BUILD YOUR VOCABULARY STREAK Complete all three daily vocabulary alarms to finish the day. Track your progress with a calendar showing completed days, your longest streak, and the number of words you’ve learned. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your voice is transcribed on your device whenever possible, with a secure fallback only when a difficult word needs a second look.
