ownAI 0.8.0 is the biggest update yet. PROJECTS • Larger pieces of work now get a conversation of their own beside the main one, with the folders you grant there. Your AI proposes a project when work needs a folder or many steps; you pick the folder and tap Start. • The main conversation stays free: each project shows there as a card with its state and a short summary, and your AI hands new requests to the right project. • In a project, your AI reads and writes in the granted folders, read-only if you choose. Keys and credentials stay closed even there. • Read and continue projects that live on your computer from here: the computer takes up your message right away, even in the background, and the reply comes back to you. You can also move a project to this device. • A notification tells you when a project waits for you or has finished. PROGRAMS • Programs can have tools of their own: your AI writes small helpers, such as a currency converter, and uses them whenever they are needed. • Programs can fetch from the web, keep their own data, search your AI's memory and work with the folders of the conversation that uses them. • When a program's page runs into an error, ownAI offers to have it fixed. • When your AI changes a program you have open, nothing is lost: the panel offers to reload it. • Tools from earlier versions are carried over automatically. SKILLS • Your AI keeps instructions for recurring work as skills, in the open SKILL.md format. It writes one after a longer task or when you corrected it, and follows it next time. • See and delete skills in the memory panel, and add skills from elsewhere with "+". Skills sync to your other devices. CONVERSATION • Attach files with the paperclip, PDF and Word documents included. Your AI reads long files page by page instead of filling the conversation. • Stop a reply while it is being written; what was written so far is kept. • Replies keep being written when you switch to another AI, and several AIs can answer at the same time. • A new AI greets you in the language of your interface. DESIGN • New typography: your AI writes in Source Serif 4, you in Source Sans 3, in a column that reads like a book. • Secondary text has more contrast and meets WCAG AA. • In setup, Back and Next sit at the top of the page. • Your AI no longer adds emojis unless you ask for them. FIXES • When a reply fails, the work your AI had already done stays visible in the conversation. • A single large file no longer overflows the conversation. • Switching between local models no longer runs out of memory. • A reply no longer continues in the wrong conversation after switching AIs.
