About Classics – Public Domain Books

The great books, beautifully bound — and finally quiet. Public Domain Books is a calm, carefully crafted library of the world's timeless classics. No ads. No accounts. No noise. Just the greatest works ever written, typeset with care and ready wherever you are. READ, OR LISTEN Every book can be read on a warm, paper-like page — or read aloud with natural narration, so you can keep going with your eyes closed. MADE TO FEEL LIKE A REAL BOOK Leather covers and gold lettering. Three restful themes — Paper, Original, and Quiet. Adjustable type, bookmarks, highlights, and notes. Your place is always saved, and syncs across your devices. YOURS, OFFLINE Each book downloads the first time you open it — after that, read it on a plane, a train, or a mountaintop. Everything is in the public domain. What’s new

Version 2.2 · Updated September 25, 2026

New: reading plans. Say how many days you'd like a book to take, and the app does the rest — the day's goal sits in the page footer, and a quiet reminder arrives with the story's next sentence. On iPhone, follow the day's reading from the Lock Screen and the Dynamic Island.
