About MediaShelf

Your collection. One beautiful library. MediaShelf brings your books, vinyl, CDs, films, games, magazines, and more together in one place. Scan a barcode or photograph a cover and MediaShelf does the cataloguing for you, filling in cover art, creators, publishers, release dates, editions, and more in seconds. No account. No subscription. Always private and free. SCAN TO COLLECT. Point your camera at a barcode and MediaShelf finds the details instantly. ISBN, EAN, and UPC are all supported, making it easy to catalogue something new or check whether you already own it while you're shopping. No barcode? Take a photo instead. MediaShelf's AI scanner can recognize the actual edition in your hands, from old paperbacks and imported releases to vinyl sleeves, box sets, and magazines. Keep your own photo as the cover or use the official artwork. Three AI scans are included free. ONE LIBRARY FOR EVERYTHING Keep your entire collection together — from books and comics to records, CDs, films, video games, board games, and puzzles. Browse everything at once or focus on a particular collection. Organize it around the way you actually collect and store things, with Collections for what you collect and Locations for where it lives. Search across your entire library, including track listings, cast, series, notes, publishers, shelf locations, ISBNs, and more. Everything is editable, so your library stays the way you want it. Five browsing styles let you see it your way, from shelves of cover art to a plain title-only list. Eight themes, light and dark, with typography worth lingering on, and cover-first layouts made for iPhone and iPad. NEVER BUY IT TWICE MediaShelf warns you when something you're scanning is already in your library or Wishlist. Smart matching can recognize the same title even when the edition is different. Keep the things you're still looking for on your Wishlist, then move them to your collection when they finally come home. YOUR LIBRARY, EVERYWHERE Ask Siri whether you own something, where your copy is, or what's on your Wishlist. Your collection is also available through Spotlight, so you can find your own copies right from the Home Screen. Widgets put your collection or Wishlist on your Home Screen, and a Lock Screen widget keeps the scanner one tap away. Discover brings you bestseller lists, new releases, Staff Picks, and personalized picks based on your own library. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your library lives on your device. There's no account to create, and no subscription to maintain. iCloud Sync keeps your own private iCloud copy in step across your devices, and you can export your collection as JSON whenever you like. MediaShelf Pro is a one-time purchase with unlimited items, no ads, iCloud Sync, exclusive themes, your choice of start screen, and 50 AI scans. Pro — Family is a separate one-time purchase covering up to six people through Apple Family Sharing, with 150 AI scans. The free version includes up to 100 items and three AI scans to try. For collectors, cataloguers, and anyone who loves their shelves, MediaShelf gives your collection the home it deserves. NO ACCOUNT · NO SUBSCRIPTION · PRIVATE BY DESIGN

What’s new

Version 4.0.1 · Updated October 18, 2026

Now in your language. MediaShelf is translated into French, Spanish, Italian and Japanese, with Canadian French and Latin American Spanish of their own — every screen, every label, and every phrase you can say to Siri. The app follows whatever language your device is set to. Accessibility across the app. Larger Text scales the whole interface up to the biggest accessibility sizes. Reduce Motion stills the travelling transitions and holds the carousel flat. Every one of the eight themes meets the 4.5:1 contrast standard, and status, ratings and selection are carried by shape and text as well as colour, so nothing depends on telling two colours apart. Ask Siri what you own. Siri can answer questions about your collection — whether you own something, where your copy is, what’s on your Wishlist, and how many of a format you’ve got. It answers out loud and shows what it found; on iOS 26 and later you can tap a result to open the item. Switch it on in Settings, under Apps › MediaShelf › Apple Intelligence & Siri. Your library turns up in Spotlight. Search from the Home Screen and your own copies come back with their cover art — by title, creator, publisher, series, shelf location, ISBN, or anything else you’ve filled in. Tap one to go straight to it. UI improvements. Cover art now paints its own backdrop: a soft wash of the cover’s own colours, blurred and feathered behind it on the detail screen, so every item brings its own atmosphere to the page. Theme and Font sit in the same cards as the rest of Settings, and each theme swatch is outlined in its own colour. Turn on Reduce Transparency and the whole app wears its flat chrome. Smaller things. Covers joins Sort, Rating and Status in the filter panel on the Library and Wishlist headers. Data & Privacy shows whether MediaShelf has the camera, with a tap through to Settings.
