Distill News

Most news apps are built to keep you scrolling. Distill is built to let you stop. No recommendation algorithm. You pick the topics and your city; the feed is chronological. Every headline is rewritten to say what the story actually says — no clickbait, no curiosity gaps — and every story is scored for substance and calm. Flip on Good news when you've had enough. HOW IT WORKS Every story that reaches your feed has to earn its place. Distill evaluates each article on three things: • Real substance — Does it actually say anything? Thin, padded, "nothing" stories are filtered out so you never click into an empty article. • An honest headline and summary — No clickbait, no curiosity-gap tricks. You get a straight headline and a clear summary up front, so you know what a story is about before you tap. • A calm signal — Sensationalized, rage-bait, doom-scroll content is filtered down, so your feed stays useful instead of upsetting. Stories that don't clear the bar simply don't show up. What's left is the news worth your time. WHAT YOU GET • A clean, distraction-free feed — no autoplay, no infinite outrage, no dark patterns, no algorithm deciding what you see. • Honest headlines and summaries on every story, with at-a-glance substance and calm signals. • Good news — a one-tap switch that shows only stories the evaluation scored as genuinely positive. • Local — clean headlines from local outlets in your city, without the TV-news doom. • Topics — follow the subjects you care about, from world and business to science, space, tech, health, sports, food, travel, AI and more, each with sub-topics. • Search across headlines, summaries, topics and keywords. • Light, dark, or follow your system. • Tap through to read the original article at the source. Distill points you to great journalism; it doesn't replace it. • Sign in with email, Google or Apple to keep your topics in sync — or just continue as a guest. Delete your account any time from the menu. WHO IT'S FOR If you want to be informed but you're tired of feeling worse after checking the news, Distill is for you. It's for people who'd rather read ten things that matter than scroll past a hundred that don't. OUR PROMISE No clickbait. No doom-scroll. No algorithm. Just the news, distilled — and your time, respected.
