About SunnySide: Find Better Weather

It's 96° at home and 75° ninety minutes away. SunnySide finds the cooler places you can actually drive to today. Pick a day and how far you're willing to go. SunnySide checks the forecast at real outdoor destinations — state parks, beaches, lakes, hiking trails, campgrounds — and ranks them by how good a day out they'd genuinely be. WHAT YOU GET • The temperature difference, up front. "21° cooler" tells you in one glance whether the drive is worth it. • Real places, not map coordinates. Every result is a named park, beach, trail or preserve you can navigate to. No shops, no city centres, no filler. • A day-out score, not just the coldest number. Coldest isn't best — a windswept 55° beach beats nobody's Saturday. SunnySide weighs feels-like temperature, hours of sunshine, wind, rain chance and drive time together. • Sunshine hours, honestly. A forecast that says "fog" for a morning that burns off by noon is misleading. SunnySide shows 5 hours of sun versus 12, so you know the difference between a grey day and a bright one. • Seven days ahead. Plan Saturday on a Wednesday. • A heat map of everywhere you can reach. See the temperature gradient across your whole drivable area, and where the cool pockets are. • Tap for the full picture. Exact drive time, hour-by-hour forecast, air quality, wind, and what else is worth doing nearby. BUILT FOR PEOPLE WHO LIVE SOMEWHERE HOT If you're inland and summer is relentless while the coast or the mountains stay mild, this app is for you. It was built in California's Central Valley for exactly that reason. NO ACCOUNT, NO TRACKING There's no sign-up and no advertising. Your location is used to find places near you — that's it. Weather data from Apple Weather and Open-Meteo.

What’s new

Version 1.0.1 · Updated October 7, 2026

Cooler now means cooler. Places only show up if they're at least 5° cooler than where you are, and when nothing nearby qualifies, the app says so and offers a longer drive. Spots now show their town and distance. Fixed the list going empty when switching between Cooler and Sunnier. Drive times are more accurate on longer trips.
