About The ARCHV: Football History

The ARCHV is football with a memory. The promise, in full: no ads, no account, no betting, and at most one quiet notification a day, if you want it. There are no live scores in here. It is a reading room for the day's stories and the game's history, told in original illustration and plain English. HOME The day's lead story opens the app. Under it sits the Wire: once a day, the top ESPN headline for each sport, word for word, linking to the full story on espn.com. Some carry a one-line note from us, marked as ours. Then the tables: the Premier League, Manchester United's fixtures and results, and the NFL standings. Then the desks. The Transfer Desk keeps rumour apart from done deals and says who reported what. Football Leagues covers the English top flight, the European nights and MLS. International Football follows the national teams and the youth and women's tournaments, and it still holds the 2026 World Cup as it happened. Tabs along the top add tennis, golf, Formula 1, the NFL and basketball. Football is the default. THE ARCHIVE Daily Archive gives you one player from football's past each day. The first clue is free, every wrong guess buys the next one, and you have five guesses to name the player before the streak goes. The Duel puts two players side by side. Every number on the card names its source and the years it covers, and the finished card shares as an image. The tab also holds the poster line, where the great finals and famous nights are drawn as posters, along with the long reads, the legends and the giant killers. ON YOUR PHONE Save a story and you can read it offline. The widget, small or medium, puts the day's story on your Home Screen. Pick a favourite club and any story that names it carries a small gold mark; nothing is hidden or reordered. The app runs in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Italian. Set it to any of the other five and an article can be translated on your device, with the original a tap away. Every portrait is an original illustration, and the stories use no photographs and no club crests. Pull to refresh and a penalty kick plays out. Keep scrolling past the bottom of Home and you are shown a yellow card for it. The coin at the end of every story spins under your thumb. The ARCHV is an independent publication. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or licensed by FIFA, UEFA, the NFL, Formula 1, or any club, league, federation, competition or player. ESPN headlines are provided by ESPN, and The ARCHV is not affiliated with ESPN.

What’s new

Version 1.5.8 · Updated October 14, 2026

New: live scores. The Football and All tabs now show today's Premier League, Champions League and WSL matches, with the score and the minute while a game is on. Tap a match for the goals, cards, line-ups, team stats and player ratings. Scores and ratings come from API-Football. Past results go back to the start of the season, one day at a time. If you have the daily notification turned on, it now follows the sport you pick on Home.
