GemRock: Stone Identifier

RockGem is an AI-powered stone identifier for rocks, crystals, minerals, fossils, and gemstones. Found a strange stone on a walk? Picked up a shiny mineral outdoors? Curious about a crystal in your collection? Simply take or upload a photo and RockGem helps you learn what it may be, why it looks that way, and how you can check it further. ROCK, CRYSTAL, MINERAL & FOSSIL IDENTIFIER Take a photo or choose one from your library. RockGem analyzes the image and provides possible matches for common rocks, crystals, minerals, fossils, gemstones, and metal ores. Each scan may include: • Possible identification matches • Confidence level • Visual clues • Uncertainty notes • Simple field tests • Physical properties • Chemical formula when available • Collection notes NOT JUST ONE ANSWER Stone, mineral, and gemstone identification can be difficult from a photo alone. RockGem does not pretend every result is certain. Instead, it shows likely matches, confidence, and what still needs to be checked. This helps you understand whether your stone may be quartz, amethyst, calcite, pyrite, agate, jasper, jade, obsidian, limestone, fossil shell rock, or another common rock or mineral type. CONFIDENCE & UNCERTAINTY RockGem explains why a result may be likely and what cannot be confirmed from the image. A photo may show color, shape, texture, and luster, but hardness, streak, weight, magnetism, or acid reaction may still need to be tested. This makes RockGem useful for learning, comparing, and exploring instead of relying on a single guess. SIMPLE FIELD TESTS Learn practical ways to check your find, including: • Hardness test • Streak test • Magnetism test • Acid reaction • Luster • Transparency • Cleavage and fracture • Weight feeling These tests can help you compare similar-looking stones, such as pyrite and gold, quartz and calcite, or fossil limestone and ordinary rock.
