About PawTrails: Dog trail finder

PawTrails helps you find dog-friendly trails and walks near you, see exactly where your dog can be off-leash, and track every adventure together. FIND DOG-FRIENDLY TRAILS • Browse trails on a live map, color-coded by leash policy — green for off-leash, amber for on-leash — so you know before you go. • Real trail data from OpenStreetMap, loaded as you explore. • Search any city, park, or address and jump straight there. • Sort by nearest, top-rated, longest, or name, and filter to just your saved places. EVERYTHING FOR THE WALK • Trail details with a route map, one-tap directions in Apple Maps, photos, and star reviews from other dog owners. • Save your favorite spots with a tap — they’re always a swipe away, even offline. • Distances in miles or kilometers, your choice. TRACK YOUR WALKS • Tap Record to track your route, distance, and time — it keeps going with the screen off. • Save walks to your history and share a beautiful map image to Instagram or anywhere. A COMMUNITY THAT KNOWS THE SPOTS • Discover “off-leash tolerated” spots — places that are technically on-leash but where off-leash is welcome in practice, something maps alone can’t tell you. • Confirm spots you know, add ones you love, and post quick condition check-ins (muddy, crowded, foxtails…) to help other owners. YOURS, SIMPLY • Start as a guest, or sign in with Apple or email — your favorites follow you. • Report and moderation tools keep the community friendly. Trail data © OpenStreetMap contributors. Grab the leash — your next favorite trail is waiting.

What’s new

Version 1.2.0 · Updated July 28, 2026

PawTrails speaks five new languages. Spanish, French, German, Italian and Brazilian Portuguese — the whole app follows whatever your iPhone is set to, right down to the location prompt. Places look completely different now: instead of a flat colour block, every place opens with pictures you can swipe through — photos people have added, free photos from Wikimedia, and Apple's own street-level views of the park itself — and you can tap any of them to see it full screen, or step in and walk around the place before you go. Anywhere we can't find a picture still opens with the real route drawn on a map, so you always see the shape of the walk before you head out. Trails load faster and give up less easily, too — the map used to sit there spinning when OpenStreetMap was busy, and now it quietly tries again and tells you plainly when there simply aren't any dog-friendly places mapped where you are. Sharing finally works properly — send someone a trail and, if they don't have the app yet, the link takes them to the App Store instead of nowhere — and there are Rate and Share shortcuts in your profile now. One thing we forgot to mention last update: photos get a quick check right on your iPhone before they upload, so trail pages stay about trails and dogs, and your photo isn't sent anywhere to be looked at. Plus the usual behind-the-scenes work so we catch and fix problems faster.
