About StoryBeam Kids: Bedtime Books

StoryBeam Kids is a kids podcast and storybook app built around one rule: every show is listened to first, and every book is read before it reaches the shelf. Forty-three storybooks and twenty-seven approved shows. No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no open search, and no surprise next-up. Tiffany Munzer, MD, FAAP, writing for HealthyChildren.org, notes that "autoplay, endless scrolling and targeted ads aren't built with children's well-being in mind." StoryBeam Kids is designed as the opposite of an open attention platform: no open browsing, no social feeds, no user uploads, and no surprise next-up recommendations. THE READING NOOK Forty-three storybooks to read together, free and with no account: - Twenty-three illustrated StoryBeam Originals, written with the kid who founded the app, two of them in Spanish - Five public-domain classics word for word, including Beatrix Potter with her original pictures - Nine conservatively screened Book Dash titles, shared under Creative Commons - Six gentle bedtime retellings of tales you already know - The shelf remembers where you stopped, so a half-finished book is still there tomorrow - Reading awards for finishing a book, three bedtimes, and the whole shelf THE LISTENING ROOM - Play reviewed children's podcast episodes - Start with StoryBeam and browse approved shows - Search only the closed catalog - Save local watchlist and playlist picks - Simple audio controls for bedtime, car rides, and quiet time WHY FAMILIES USE IT - Every show is listened to before it appears - New shows must pass strict vetting before launch - Safer discovery than open podcast platforms - A grown-up check stands in front of every link that leaves the app - Nothing is uploaded: no accounts, no camera, no microphone, no location prompts StoryBeam Kids is built for screen-light family listening, bedtime wind-down, reading aloud together, and kid-safe audio discovery. Founded by a kid who wanted one more story. Built by her parents.

What’s new

Version 1.3 · Updated September 11, 2026

The Reading Nook now holds forty-three storybooks: twenty-three illustrated StoryBeam Originals, two of them written in Spanish, five public-domain classics word for word, nine conservatively screened Book Dash titles in their own guest-authors folder, and six gentle bedtime retellings. Every book has its own page now, so you can send someone a single story instead of the whole shelf. The app has a new look throughout: a night-sky opening, a lamplit shelf at the top, and tightened pages.
