About TalkGlish
Four years of classes — and most people still can't order a coffee. TalkGlish takes the other road: speak the mix. Open the app and have a real conversation, out loud, with Iris — blending the language you already speak with the one you're learning. Any pair you want: Spanish with English, French with Chinese, Japanese with Portuguese. The whole world awaits. One dial sets your mix: it's simply the share of your speaking you're aiming to do in the new language. Set it to 20% and you're speaking mostly your own language, reaching for the new one with a word or two mixed in. As you grow, you turn it up. You're always understood, and always stretching. THREE TAPS TO TALKING Turn the dial to your mix — low to start Talk out loud with Iris — "¿Qué le traigo?" · "Un café, please." · "Claro — coming right up." Watch the mix grow — more of the new language over time. No scores, no streaks. NOT ONE SLIDER — THREE SETTINGS Real immersion was never one setting. How much of the new language you reach to speak, how much the other side speaks it to you, and how much help is at hand when you're stuck — out in the world all three are fixed and hit you at once. In TalkGlish, each one is yours. WE KEEP THE SCORE HONEST The one thing you don't set is how much of what you said actually came out in the new language — and that's the only thing we measure. Aim for 70% and land 40%? We show you the 40%, plainly, no penalty. Aiming high is allowed; falling short is how you climb. TWO DOORS IN, ONE MEMORY Just Talk — open the app and start a conversation about anything. Or Practice a Scene — pick from a library of everyday situations, build your own, or make one with Iris: ordering food, finding a taxi, meeting your partner's family. Either way, TalkGlish remembers who you are, what matters to you, and where you left off — every session picks up where your journey left off. WHY IT WORKS Decades of research agree: you learn what you can almost understand, when you're not scared. Bilinguals don't keep two separate languages — they blend, because blending is how meaning gets made. And around half the world already lives in the mix. Sounding like a native was never the point. Being understood is. Voice when you can talk, text when you can't. Same Iris, same memory. Free to get started. No flashcards. Just talking.
