Sunny Pubs

The sun's out. So where's it actually landing? Sunny Pubs sorts your afternoon by sunlight. It shows you which outdoor spots have sun on them now, where the sun will still be at six, and how long each one lasts before the shade arrives. SUN IS THE FILTER, NOT THE CATEGORY A drink on a patio. Lunch at an outdoor table. A park, a beach, a trail, a swim, a sunset. Whatever you feel like doing outside, Sunny Pubs sorts it by where the light actually is. WORKED OUT FROM THE BUILDINGS AROUND EACH PLACE A weather app can tell you it's sunny in Chicago. It can't tell you that the patio behind the bar is in shade because of the building next door. Sunny Pubs uses the buildings around each place (their footprints and, where they're recorded, their heights), together with live weather, to work out whether that particular spot is lit. MOVE WITH THE LIGHT • Check morning, afternoon, evening or sunset before you commit • Sunny windows for the next 48 hours, place by place • Follow the sun: when one spot falls into shade, move to the next one still lit • Sunset spots with a clear western horizon for the last of the light • A home-screen widget: sunny spots near you, and when the sun reaches them NARROW IT TO WHAT YOU ACTUALLY WANT • Bars, pubs, cafes, restaurants, parks, beaches, trails and nightclubs • Accessibility, cocktails, wifi, live music and pet friendly, wherever the data exists • Hiking, cycling, swimming, kayaking, snorkeling and camping • Trails by difficulty and shape: easy to strenuous, loop or out-and-back • Beaches near high tide, outdoor seating and dance floors • Opening hours and photos, wherever they exist NEW IN TOWN? A local already knows which patio catches the evening sun. In a city you have never walked, you cannot. Sunny Pubs works the same wherever it covers, so the first table you sit down at is one that is actually lit. HONEST WHERE THE DATA IS THIN Sun answers are estimates. Building records are better in some cities than others, and where a sunset spot's horizon is estimated because a building's height isn't recorded, its details say so. Free, with no ads.
