ShinRonin

ShinRonin is a free modular delay and filter effect for iPad, a modern build of Ronin, one of Audio Damage's earliest plugins from 2003. It keeps the architecture that made the original a cult favorite, two delay lines feeding two morphing filters with a pair of fully patchable routing matrices, and brings it to iOS as a 64-bit Audio Unit (AUv3). Two independent delay lines give you tempo sync, reverse, looping, and feedback. They feed a pair of morphing multimode filters that sweep continuously from notch through lowpass, bandpass, and highpass. There is saturation on each voice, two LFOs, and an envelope follower for movement. What sets ShinRonin apart are its two matrices. The signal matrix lets you route any audio node to any other, so you can build feedback loops, cross-feed the two delays, and stack the filters in any order. The modulation matrix wires the two LFOs, the envelope follower, and incoming MIDI to almost any parameter. Most effects hand you a fixed set of knobs. ShinRonin lets you rewire the whole signal path. It is happy doing clean stereo delays and gentle filtering, but the real fun starts when you patch a feedback loop and let it misbehave, from lush echoes to self-oscillating drones and full-on glitch. FEATURES - Two delay lines with tempo sync, reverse, loop, and feedback - Two morphing multimode filters: notch, lowpass, bandpass, highpass, and everywhere between - Per-voice saturation - Two LFOs and an envelope follower - Patchable signal matrix for custom routing and feedback networks - Patchable modulation matrix driven by the LFOs, envelope, and MIDI - MIDI note, gate, and mod wheel as modulation sources - Factory presets with full save and recall - Runs as an AUv3 plugin in hosts such as AUM, apeMatrix, Cubasis, and other AUv3 hosts - ShinRonin is completely free. No trial, no subscription, no in-app purchases, and no account required. Install it and play. ShinRonin requires iPadOS 16 or later and an AUv3 host.
