About Read-a-Pop: Learn to Read
Read-a-Pop turns "learning to read" into a game kids beg to play. Balloons drift up the screen, each showing a real word — your child reads it out loud and pops it. Simple, joyful, and quietly teaching reading the whole time. Built on reading science, not guesswork. We designed Read-a-Pop around how children actually learn to read: • 1,000+ real words from the trusted Dolch and Fry lists plus decodable phonics patterns — the same words schools use, introduced from easy to harder. • The word is SHOWN as your child pops it, so popping and reading become the same happy moment — the approach early-literacy research recommends, instead of bolting a reward onto a non-reading action. • Words are set in Andika, a typeface made for new readers (clear b/d/p/q and I/l/1), so letters never confuse. • On "My Words," tap any word your child has collected to hear it spoken aloud — a gentle, on-device pronunciation helper. Two ways to play — both kind, both bounded. • Read & Pop: calm and pressure-free. Fill the basket by reading 100 words. No timer, no losing — just read, pop, and celebrate. Perfect for ages 3–5. • Emoji Mode: every balloon is a fun emoji (and it teaches that word too!). Pop as many as you can — but don't pop the bomb! Great for ages 6–8. Designed for healthy screen time. Inspired by guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics and early-childhood experts: every round has a clear, satisfying ENDING (it's never endless), there's no "Game Over" that frustrates little ones, and the fun is in the reading — not in manipulative loops. It's a game you'll feel good handing your child. A collectible word book. Every word your child reads is saved into "My Words" — over 1,100 to discover — with a progress bar and milestones that make learning feel like an adventure. Made the way kids' apps should be made. • 100% private. No accounts, no sign-in, no ads, no tracking, no data collected — ever. Everything stays on the device. (See our privacy policy.) • Completely offline. No internet required, anywhere. • One-time purchase. No subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no surprises. • Universal. Beautiful on iPhone and iPad, portrait and landscape. Thoughtfully accessible. High-contrast words, full Dynamic Type, VoiceOver support, Reduce Motion, and color choices that never rely on color alone — so more kids can play and learn. Happy, gentle sound design. Cheerful pops and soft background music, generated on the device and tuned to be fun without being harsh or overstimulating. Pop a balloon. Read a word. Watch your child light up. Download Read-a-Pop and turn reading practice into the best part of the day.
