About Personhood Prism
You cannot afford a house. Or a degree, or a hospital bill, or a lawyer. One job at forty hours a week no longer covers a life. That is not the weather, and it is not the market. In 2010, Citizens United opened elections to unlimited corporate spending. Money decides elections, and deciding elections is how a corporation becomes a lawmaker without ever standing for office. That is not lobbying, and it is not influence. It is a transfer of government — a coup carried out on paper, with the elections left running. Personhood is not a possession. It is a share. Grant corporations an unlimited share and every citizen's share falls to nothing. Your vote was not taken from you. It was divided until nothing was left of it. One person, one vote assumes votes are the only thing being counted. A representative once needed your vote to keep the job, and could be turned out for breaking his word. Now he needs the money more, and the money is not yours. 81% of Americans say money in politics is a problem: 78% of Republicans, 90% of Democrats, 82% of independents. Only 15% believe unlimited spending is protected speech. Almost nobody wanted this. It happened anyway. That is what it looks like when your vote still counts and no longer weighs anything. Now the part almost nobody knows. The Supreme Court has never decided that corporations are people. There is no ruling on the merits. The doctrine descends from a headnote — the Court reporter's summary of an 1886 case, written by a former railroad company president, about a question the Court had expressly refused to answer. A headnote carries no force of law. It has been treated as law for 140 years. The takeover was built on something that was never law. So what is personhood? It has two tests, and almost everyone knows only the first. THE FIRST TEST IS ROMAN. Is a law attached to this entity? Attach a law and it can be heard. Attach none and it is something the law disposes of rather than answers to. That test is the foundation under every Western legal system and it never went away. THE SECOND TEST DECIDES YOUR LIFE. Is that attached law actually enforced, and for whom? A law that exists and is never enforced for you leaves you exactly where Rome left an entity with no law at all — outside. Personhood is not what you are. It is whether a law attaches to you, and whether anyone will enforce it when it matters. Both can be granted. Both can be withheld. Both can be bought. A right can exist in law and never attach to you. That is the execution gap. Personhood Prism is the case library for that argument. • A growing library of landmark decisions — U.S. Supreme Court, plus rights-of-nature and animal-personhood rulings worldwide • Every case tagged by the mechanism it performs: ORIGIN, FICTION, DILUTED, ERASED, PRICED, SOULED, CAGED, DISMANTLED, CONTRACTED, DIVIDED, TRANSFERRED, RESTORED • "Reveal the Missing Piece" — the argument the Court never made • "Ask me anything about this case" — AI explanation of any case in the library • A 3-minute assessment: are you legally invisible? • Free. No account. English-language interface. AI analysis is educational and is not legal advice. The interactive companion to The Execution Gap: When Law Exists but Rights Don't Attach, by Thomas William Hornig (2nd ed., 2026).
What’s new
Version 1.1 · Updated August 11, 2026
The iPad and tablet layout has been rebuilt. One reading column at every width, a two-column case library, and body text that no longer runs to the edge of the screen. New — the open letter to Congress of 30 July 2026, in full. New — "Libnani w Nos", the song written for this work by Charbel Rouhana and Rabih Mroué, with the lyrics in Arabic and English, the full credits, and why a song belongs in a constitutional-law app. A quiet player sits in the corner of every page. Also fixed: a caching fault that could leave returning readers on an older version of the app, an invisible button on the case-submission screen, and spacing throughout.
