Janthri

Janthri is the definitive Kashmiri Hindu calendar app, built for the global Kashmiri Pandit community. Whether you are in Srinagar, Delhi, New York, or London, Janthri gives you precise, astronomically-calculated tithi dates, traditional Kashmiri festivals, and personalized lunar reminders, right in your pocket. PRECISE ASTRONOMICAL CALCULATIONS Unlike generic Hindu calendar apps, Janthri uses real astronomical algorithms (Meeus-based Sun and Moon ecliptic longitude calculations) aligned to Srinagar sunrise times. Every tithi, paksha, and Hindu month is calculated, not looked up from a static table. The engine correctly handles complex cases like Kshaya (dropped) Tithis and Adhika Masa (leap months). KASHMIRI HINDU FESTIVALS Automatically calculates and displays traditional festivals specific to Kashmiri Pandits: - Herath (Maha Shivaratri) - Navreh (New Year) - Zyeshtha Ashtami - Kaw Punim (Raksha Bandhan) - Khetsimavas (Diwali) - And many more... Festival dates follow authentic observation rules: morning-prevailing (Udaya Tithi) for day festivals and night-prevailing rules where traditionally required. BIRTHDAY AND SHRAADH REMINDERS Never miss a lunar anniversary again. Enter a Gregorian birth date or passing date with the exact time, and Janthri will: - Calculate the original tithi (lunar day) - Automatically find the correct tithi anniversary every year - Handle the natural 11-20 day lunar drift across years - Send you push notification reminders in advance This is especially valuable for Shraadh dates, where the exact tithi must be observed, not the Gregorian date. SMART NOTIFICATIONS Receive timely local push notifications for: - Upcoming Birthdays and Shraadhs - Important tithis (Ashtami, Ekadashi, Purnima, Amavasya) - Festival reminders NATIVE CALENDAR SYNC Export your Shraadhs and festivals directly to Apple Calendar with one tap. Get reminders 1 week and 1 day before, no need to check the app daily. TODAY AT A GLANCE Open the app and instantly see: - Today's Tithi, Paksha and Hindu Month - Vikram Samvat year - Sunrise and Sunset times (for Srinagar) - Any festivals falling today - Upcoming birthdays and shraadhs PRIVACY-FIRST AND OFFLINE Janthri works entirely offline. All calculations happen on your device. No data is sent to any server. No login required. Your family dates stay private, always. Janthri is a labour of love, built to preserve the rich calendrical traditions of Kashmiri Hindus for current and future generations.
