Kagga Sutra

Kagga Sutra brings Mankutimmana Kagga to your fingertips — the timeless philosophical masterpiece by D.V. Gundappa (DVG), one of Kannada literature's greatest poets. Written in the 1940s, Mankutimmana Kagga ("The Ramblings of a Dull-Witted Timmanna") is 945 verses that grapple with life's deepest questions: the nature of existence, uncertainty of fate, meaning of suffering, and acceptance of the unknown. HOW IT WORKS Ask anything in English or Kannada — about grief, work, relationships, doubt, mortality, or meaning. Kagga Sutra finds the most relevant verses and synthesizes a grounded, thoughtful answer with verse citations. It draws on the full 945-verse corpus using AI-powered semantic search. Prefer to browse rather than ask? Explore organizes all 945 verses into topics — inner peace, conduct, time, relationships, and more — so you can wander the text by theme, not just by question. Tap into a topic, then tap any verse to ask Kagga Sutra more about it. It is not a chatbot. It is a philosophical guide that channels DVG's wisdom to meet your questions where they are. FEATURES • Ask in English or Kannada • Explore 945 verses organized by topic • Voice input supported • Full verse text: Kannada original, transliteration, and English translation • Save favorite verses for later reading • Suggested follow-up questions to deepen exploration • No account required — questions processed anonymously VERSE LOOKUP Know a specific verse? Type "verse 42" or "#108" to get it directly with full reflection. ABOUT KAGGA DVG wrote Kagga after years of witnessing human struggle and the indifferent vastness of the cosmos. He arrived not at despair, but at equanimity — a grounded acceptance of life's mystery. Kagga is studied in Karnataka schools and remains one of the most quoted works in Kannada culture. This app was built to make that wisdom accessible to a new generation.
