Whisker Pad: Writing Coach

Whisker Pad is the daily journal that doubles as a writing coach for young writers. Every night they write a short entry, get personal feedback from Buddy the cat, then read it aloud to a cartoon audience. WHAT YOUR KID DOES - Picks a topic (or asks Buddy to suggest one) - Brainstorms, plans, then writes the entry - Reads it aloud to a friendly cartoon audience - Watches the playback and gets gentle notes from Buddy WHY IT WORKS - Writing without feedback doesn't get better. Whisker Pad gives gentle, personal feedback every night, tuned to what your kid just wrote. - The curriculum is research-based but never feels like school. Genres rotate across the week (opinion, informative, personal-narrative) so your kid practices the writing they'll actually be asked to do. - Reading the entry aloud cements the corrected version. It also gives shy kids reps for speaking under a little bit of pressure. - Buddy's coaching gets lighter as your kid gains mastery. MEET BUDDY Buddy is the friendly cat who lives inside Whisker Pad. Buddy suggests topics, asks questions, pushes your kid to be more descriptive, and catches everything from structural issues to spelling mistakes. Buddy never writes the entry.
