When publication ended, this project parsed every edition from 1990 onward (Project Gutenberg texts, archived HTML, JSON snapshots) into one unified, queryable archive - first as the worldfactbookarchive.org website, now as this app. DATA INTEGRITY Published Factbook text is preserved alongside structured fields for search and analysis. Archive classifications, historical country associations, and extraction errors are corrected through documented validation. Full methodology, sources, and validation are documented openly, and the complete raw dataset is published at github.com/MilkMp/CIA-World-Factbooks-Archive-1990-2025. Truly offline: the entire 36-year dataset ships inside the app. Nothing is downloaded, nothing is tracked, and no account is needed. This is the official companion app of worldfactbookarchive.org, built and maintained by the same developer. The World Factbook is a work of the United States Government in the public domain. This app and website are an independent archive and are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Central Intelligence Agency.

What’s new

Version 1.4.1 · Updated October 3, 2026

Find more, read more easily, and compare your routes. • Improved search across the app: find capitals such as Baku, population figures, and other Factbook fields, with help for misspellings and country-and-field queries. • Linked entries and term explanations: preview countries mentioned in an entry and open short explanations of marked terms without losing your place. • Restructured Border Explorer comparisons: see your route beside a highlighted shortest route on an undimmed map, with a compact two-column panel. Nearby country labels make border geography clearer. • Country pronunciation improvements: hear names even when your iPhone is in Silent mode. Enable local pronunciation in Settings to show a separate local-name button where a matching voice is available. • Your choice of icon: Dark is the standard iPhone and iPad Home Screen icon. Choose Light in the app’s Settings independently of your reading theme. • Cleaner PDF exports: a smaller, transparent print seal, black text, and clearer section headings make entries, dossiers, and study sheets easier to print and read. The complete archive and 284 bundled CIA maps remain available offline. Historical estimates and classifications stay tied to their original Factbook editions.
