About Longhand Notes
Longhand is an endless board for your ideas. Put notes, checklists, documents, images, PDFs, links and handwriting on one canvas, and arrange them however you think. Group what belongs together, connect related ideas, and zoom out to see the whole picture. Share a board and work on it together in real time. Your boards sync instantly across your Mac, iPad and iPhone through iCloud. There's no account to create. Make it yours with desk surfaces like wood, cork and dark grid, and pick your own fonts and colors. Less clutter, more clarity.
What’s new
Version 2 · Updated October 10, 2026
Real-time sync Your boards now sync between your devices almost instantly. A change made on one device shows up on the other in about a second. Shared boards Two people can work on the same board at the same time. Edits from both sides are merged, so neither overwrites the other. Opening a share link now takes you straight to the board. When someone is editing a note, their avatar and name show on it. Edits show up live, even while the note is open on the other device. Asking to edit is more reliable. When the owner grants access, the bar changes to "You Can Edit Now" and your tools appear. If the owner stops sharing, you're told the board is no longer shared. It no longer just disappears. A board shared with you uses its owner's colors and background. Undo and Redo New Undo and Redo buttons next to the board title, plus Command-Z and Shift-Command-Z on Mac and iPad keyboards. Undo only reverts your own changes, never a collaborator's. Archive The Archive now works like the board. Click a pile or group to open it, select several items, right-click for the menu, and zoom or scroll anywhere. Opening and closing are animated. Boards and writing A board opens framed to show all of its content. On iPhone and iPad, a note you start writing in moves into view above the keyboard. Tapping a note puts the cursor at the end of the text. Join strokes: select two or more strokes and choose Join to turn them into a single stroke. New font: Coming Soon. Text outlines can now be up to 24 pt thick. Images and link previews show corner handles on touch screens, so you can resize them with a finger. iPhone Inside a group, the top bar shows the group's name, search and a close button. Create Board and Go to Archive are now at the top of the Boards list. Menus open more smoothly. The status bar turns white on dark backgrounds. Notes with more than one line no longer show only their first line. Fixes Fixed sharing failing with "Couldn't Share". Fixed the top edge of cards with rounded corners. General performance and reliability improvements.
