Blue-C

BlueC is the official mobile app of the Blue Carbon (Blue-C) project, dedicated to protecting and restoring the seagrass meadows and blue carbon ecosystems of the Black Sea. Seagrass meadows are among the planet's most powerful natural carbon sinks. Although they cover less than 0.5% of the sea bed, they account for a large share of the carbon stored in ocean sediments. The Blue-C project works to map, monitor, and conserve these vital habitats through science, education, and regional cooperation. WHAT YOU CAN DO IN THE APP • Explore the project — Learn about the Blue Carbon Project, its goals, and main activities. • Meet the partners — Discover the universities and institutions working together across the Black Sea region. • Watch educational videos — Stream the Black Sea Conservation Education Programme (BCEP) video series. • Watch offline — Download videos to your device and watch them anytime, without an internet connection. • Access project tools — Reach resources such as the Marine Litter Watch platform, the Seagrass Simulation Model, and the Online Education Programme. WHY IT MATTERS Blue carbon habitats help fight climate change, support biodiversity, and protect coastlines. By making this knowledge accessible, BlueC helps students, educators, researchers, and citizens understand and protect the Black Sea. ABOUT THE PROJECT The Blue-C project is co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT programme, bringing together partners from across the Black Sea basin to advance marine conservation, monitoring, and education.
