About Animal Track Identifier: Paw

Identify North American animal tracks from a single photo. Spot a paw print in the mud or snow, snap it, and find out who passed through. WHAT YOU CAN IDENTIFY Animal Track Identifier reads tracks and paw prints — the toe count, claw marks, gait, and size cues that point to the animal that made them. SEE WHY IT'S A MATCH This is a learning tool, not a black box. Every result shows the "why this match" chain — the exact features it read in your photo (toe count, claw marks, gait, size cues) and how they narrow down to the animal. You finish each scan knowing a little more than you did before. HONEST ABOUT LOOK-ALIKES A scaleless photo can't always separate a fox from a coyote, or a cat from a bobcat. Instead of faking confidence, the app names the group and ranks the look-alikes, then tells you the one cue (like adding a coin for scale) that would settle it. SMARTER WITH CONTEXT — ALWAYS OPTIONAL Turn on location and the app uses your approximate region and the time of year only to break ties between look-alikes — never to overrule what the photo actually shows. Location is always optional; deny it and everything still works. LIVE FRAMING HELP While you aim, the scanner tells you when a track is in view and what to fix — move closer, shoot straight down, add a coin for scale — so the photo you identify is a good one. ANY ANIMAL, NOT A SHORT LIST The identifier names whatever left the print — wild or domestic, mammal or bird: deer, feral hog, horse, heron, badger and beyond. Every result opens a field profile with track size, toe count, look-alikes, activity and safety notes. IN-DEPTH GUIDES FOR 22 NORTH AMERICAN SPECIES Canines (red fox, coyote, gray wolf, domestic dog), cats (house cat, bobcat, mountain lion), hoofed animals (white-tailed deer, elk, moose, feral hog), bears (black, grizzly), raccoon, opossum, skunk, river otter, beaver, gray squirrel, cottontail rabbit, wild turkey and Canada goose get hand-written guides covering tracks, habitat and when they're most active. YOUR FIELD JOURNAL Save every find to a personal journal, grouped by date, with a "seen before / near here" link so you start recognizing the patterns on your own patch. ASK THE NATURALIST A built-in assistant answers your follow-up questions — track aging, gait patterns, what to look for next time. Perfect for hikers, hunters, trackers, naturalists, parents on a nature walk, and anyone curious about who shares the woods. Read a track. Learn the animal. Animal Track Identifier requires an active Pro subscription, available as an in-app purchase, to access the app's features. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends — manage or cancel anytime in your App Store account settings. What’s new

Version 1.0.2 · Updated October 19, 2026

A big upgrade to identification: • Any animal, not a short list — the identifier now names whatever left the print, wild or domestic, mammal or bird. Every result opens a field profile with track size, toes, look-alikes, activity and safety notes. • 10 new in-depth guides: feral hog, elk, moose, mountain lion, grizzly bear, opossum, cottontail rabbit, beaver, river otter and Canada goose. • Sharper, more honest results — a new identification engine reads hoof vs. paw first, ranks look-alikes side by side, and clearly labels a "best guess" when a print is hard to read. • Live framing help — the camera tells you when a track is in view and how to get a better shot. • Pick the right match yourself and log it to your journal in one tap. • Your sightings map now shows where you actually found your tracks. • Fixes: no more made-up results when you're offline, and the assistant tells you honestly when it can't answer.
