About BRCA Box Drain Log

BRCA Box Drain Log is the first app purpose-built for BRCA mutation carriers and High Risk Cancer patients managing JP drain recovery after surgery. After a bilateral mastectomy, prophylactic surgery, or reconstruction, most patients go home with Jackson-Pratt (JP) drains — and a photocopied paper log sheet. BRCA Box replaces that paper log with a guided, structured, and supportive mobile experience designed specifically for this journey. WHAT BRCA BOX DOES • Track Left and Right drain output separately — designed for bilateral surgery • Log AM and PM readings for each drain, each day • Support up to 8 drain cards — add or remove as needed • Calendar date picker — log any past or present date • Daily summary chart — Excel-style grid showing your drainage trends at a glance • PDF export — generate a clean, formatted drainage report to share with your surgeon at every follow-up visit • Persistent history log — all entries are saved until you choose to delete them • Motivational prompts — encouraging messages with every entry to support you through recovery FOR YOUR CARE TEAM With one tap, BRCA Box generates a structured PDF drainage report that includes your name, surgeon, surgery date, and a complete day-by-day breakdown of left and right drain output. No more bringing in handwritten paper logs — your surgeon gets clean, readable data at every visit. BUILT FROM LIVED EXPERIENCE BRCA Box was created by Gladys Clausen, a BRCA previvor who underwent bilateral mastectomy and experienced firsthand the gap in post-surgical support tools. She is also the author of Modified — The Journey to My New Normal, a memoir about navigating a BRCA diagnosis and preventative surgery. "As a BRCA previvor, I want to help others with hereditary cancer risks by offering the support and tools with a more pleasant experience. After a big surgery such as a mastectomy, I feel it's important for patients to have something positive during their daily recovery." — Gladys Clausen IN-APP RESOURCES • Complete JP drain care guide — how to empty, measure, and care for your drains • Recovery tips — sleep positions, clothing suggestions, activity guidance • Warning signs — know when to contact your care team • From the Creator — learn about Gladys's story and her memoir Modified WHO THIS APP IS FOR • BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutation carriers recovering from preventative surgery • Patients recovering from mastectomy, lumpectomy, or reconstruction • Anyone with hereditary cancer risk managing post-surgical JP drain recovery • Caregivers helping a loved one track their drain output All data is stored locally on your device. BRCA Box does not collect, transmit, or share any personal health information. This app is for personal logging and documentation purposes only. It does not provide medical advice or diagnosis. Always follow your surgeon's specific post-operative instructions.
