Physics of the Shot

Physics of the Shot Discover the science behind every basketball shot. Physics of the Shot transforms slow-motion basketball videos into real-world measurements using projectile motion and court calibration. Simply upload a slow-motion video of a basketball shot, and the app analyzes its trajectory using real-world physics. Features • Measure launch angle, estimated velocity, peak height • Visualize the calculated shot trajectory • Calibrate using the basketball rim and court for real-world measurements • Learn key basketball physics concepts with built-in explanations and a glossary • Save analyses to revisit previous results Whether you’re a student, player, or simply curious about the physics of basketball, Physics of the Shot provides an engaging way to explore how physics describes a basketball’s flight. About the Project Physics of the Shot was conceived and designed by Nikolas Iliadis, a high school student. Inspired by his passion for basketball and curiosity about physics, he developed the concept to explore how projectile motion shapes every shot, bridging the gap between instinct and science. Physics of the Shot is designed as an educational tool. Results are estimates based on video quality, camera angle, and manual point selection.
