About Sober Now
SoberNow is a free, private, ad-free companion for staying sober from alcohol. Built around the real tools people use in recovery — not a glossy reskin of a habit tracker. Everything lives on your phone. No accounts. No data leaves your device. No paywalls. WHAT'S INSIDE • Sobriety counter — live days, hours, minutes since your start date. Money saved. Drinks avoided. • The Wallet Card — the classic AA index card method, digital. One side: what you gain by not drinking. Other side: what you lose by drinking. Flip it before you spend a dollar. • Reasons gallery — attach photos to the people, hobbies, and events that matter. When the urge hits, you see who's waiting on the other side. • Urge button — one tap opens a guided urge-surfing flow: breathing → activities you can do instead → your wallet card → your photos → call someone safe → log what you learned. • 14 named milestones — from "Twenty-Four Hours" through "A Decade Sober." Real achievements, not numbers. • Daily check-in — mood, craving level, HALT (Hungry/Angry/Lonely/Tired), and trigger tagging. Patterns become visible. • Check-in calendar — every day color-coded by craving level. Green = clear, yellow = minor, red = bad. Tap to read what you wrote. • Cravings tracker — your most common triggers, ranked. HALT correlation. The data tells you what your weak spots are before you find them the hard way. • Distraction list — your personal "instead of drinking" toolkit. Walk, water, call, push-ups, shower. Pin what works. Used most-often surfaces first. • Honest slip flow — a slip is not a fall. Reset your date with compassion, log what you learned, mark the new beginning with a plant emoji on the calendar. LEARN — A FULL RECOVERY LIBRARY • Withdrawal safety warning — when to call a clinician before quitting cold turkey, with one-tap hotlines (988, SAMHSA). • Urge surfing — interactive 8-step CBT method with a 10-minute timer, body locator, breathing pacer. • AA Twelve Steps — tap any step, mark progress, write your own notes that persist privately. • SMART Recovery — 4-Point Program, DEADS technique, ABC Model, and an interactive Cost-Benefit Analysis tool. • Recovery Dharma — Four Noble Truths, Wise Mind, gentle inventory questions. • Plus: LifeRing, Women for Sobriety, Refuge Recovery, Moderation Management, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and more — each with strategies and "best fit for" guidance. • Coping mechanisms by category: cravings, triggers, stress, social pressure, relapse prevention, replacement rewards. • Evidence-based treatment reference: medications (naltrexone, acamprosate, disulfiram), behavioral therapy, peer support, levels of care. PRIVACY Everything stays on your device. No analytics. No advertising. No accounts. No cloud sync. If you uninstall the app, your data goes with it. OPTIONAL TIP JAR The app is free. If it helps you, there's an optional tip jar in Settings. Tips don't unlock anything — they keep development going. Your sobriety is the point, always. MEDICAL DISCLAIMER SoberNow is an educational and self-help tool, not medical treatment. It does not provide medical diagnoses or treatment advice. Always seek the advice of a doctor or other qualified clinician in addition to using this app, and consult them before making any medical decisions — including starting, stopping, or changing how you drink, or starting or stopping any medication. The recovery and health information in the app is summarized from public, authoritative sources (NIAAA, SAMHSA, NIDA, FDA, CDC), with citations available in the app under Learn → Sources & Citations. If you're in crisis, call 988 (US Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or SAMHSA at 1-800-662-4357. If you drink heavily every day, talk to a clinician before stopping — withdrawal can be dangerous and may require medical supervision. One day at a time. We've got you.
