About ARURAKU - Algorithms in Motion
ARURAKU is an educational visualization app that helps you understand algorithms by watching them move, not by reading about them. Sorting, searching, and recursion come alive in animations that advance one step at a time. [ Algorithms ] Sorting (6) - Bubble sort / Selection sort / Insertion sort - Merge sort / Quick sort / Heap sort Race Mode runs two to four algorithms on the same array side by side, so the difference in complexity is obvious at a glance. Searching (4) - Breadth-first search (BFS) / Depth-first search (DFS) - Dijkstra's algorithm / A* Watch how each pathfinder spreads through a grid maze. Tap to edit walls, or generate a new maze. Recursion - Tower of Hanoi (3 to 8 discs) - Fractals: Koch curve, Sierpinski triangle, recursive tree (adjustable depth) [ Features ] - Colors and motion show what is happening: comparisons in orange, swaps in green - Speed control, pause, and step-by-step execution - Array patterns (random / nearly sorted / reversed / many duplicates) and element count - An explanation for every algorithm: how it works, complexity, strengths, weaknesses, and real-world use - No ads while an animation is playing - iPhone and iPad - Available in more than 70 languages (follows your device language) [ Who it's for ] - Students just starting to learn programming - Anyone preparing for IT certification exams - Engineers who want to sharpen their feel for complexity - Anyone who simply enjoys watching things move [ Pricing ] ARURAKU is free. There are no in-app purchases or subscriptions, and every feature is available from the start. To support development, the app shows ads, for example at the bottom of menu screens. Ads are never shown while an algorithm animation is playing. You can choose whether to allow ads based on your interests (personalized ads) at any time from "Ad settings" on the home screen. The first information-systems title of the Raku Series.
What’s new
Version 3.0 · Updated October 21, 2026
Version 3.0 - ARURAKU now speaks your language. In addition to Japanese and English, it is available in more than 70 languages, following your device language. Right-to-left languages such as Arabic and Hebrew are also supported. - Reset in Sort now replays the same array. Use the new "New array" button for a fresh one. - Corrected the descriptions and complexities of Dijkstra's algorithm and others to match how they run in the app. - Playback is disabled while you are editing maze walls. - VoiceOver now reads out the progress of the maze search. - Buttons and algorithm names that get longer in some languages now fit on screen. - A color key now appears under each board, and the speed slider shows Slow and Fast at its ends. - With VoiceOver, you can select maze cells one by one to edit walls. - On iPad, screens scroll when the window is too short, such as in landscape or Split View. - Minor improvements.
