About UV Load™ by Pelotan

You measure power. Heart rate. Sleep. But you don't measure UV - until now. Sun exposure isn't a health footnote, it's an under-appreciated performance variable. It accelerates fatigue, impairs sweat efficiency, raises core temperature, and disrupts recovery. Where UV Index gives you a single point in time, UV Load™ gives you the cumulative number that actually matters: per-session, and cumulatively - explaining what that exposure is doing to your performance and recovery. Calibrated against ARPANSA risk thresholds. Anchored to peer-reviewed exercise physiology. UV Load™ is a measurement, not a marketing claim. When you measure UV Load, you can adapt for it. Here’s how it works: 1. Connect the UV Load™ app to your Strava account. The app automatically picks up each new outdoor activity, plus any from the last 5 days to help build your baseline. 2. For each session we fuse your route and data including the hour-by-hour UV index, cloud cover and elevation into a single UV Load™ score from 0–100. Think of it as a Whoop strain score but for UV exposure. 3. See per-session impact and weekly cumulative strain with a push notification the moment a new activity is analysed. With this full picture, you can track your performance and recovery - and adjust when/how you train. - Get every activity analysed, for free. - Enjoy your first week of cumulative UV Load for free. - Unlock the full picture for 3 months with any purchase of Pelotan sunscreen, with active Set and Protect subscribers via pelotan.cc receiving ongoing access to the full UV Load™ feature set. UV Load™ is brought to you by Pelotan - the world’s best sports sunscreen - and is not affiliated, endorsed, or associated with Strava, WHOOP, or any other brand.

What’s new

Version 1.2.0 · Updated October 22, 2026

Lots of small improvements to make your UV Load™ experience smoother. • Activity times now show in the local time where you did the activity, just like Strava. A 7 AM run on holiday still reads 7 AM back home. • Choose whether your Progress calendar starts on Sunday or Monday in Settings → Calendar. It follows your phone's region by default. • Progress weeks now count every day correctly around daylight saving time changes. • Logging out now asks you to confirm, signs out of this phone only, and stops that account's notifications on it. • Clearer messages when something goes wrong, including if Strava was connected without access to your activities. • The Welcome back screen moves on by itself. • Cleaner map edges in the feed, plus stability and performance improvements.
