Sukta

Sukta is a careful, complete reading of the four Vedas — the oldest religious literature in any Indo-European language, composed roughly three and a half thousand years ago. Almost two thousand hymns. Over twenty thousand verses. Every one of them given in three layers: the original Devanagari Sanskrit, a faithful literal translation, and a clear modern English rendering you can actually read. Browse the Rig, Atharva, Yajur, and Sāma Vedas hymn by hymn. Open any verse to see how the literal and modern readings line up. Ask a question — about Agni, about ṛta, about the question of origins — and receive a careful, grounded answer with the specific hymns it draws on. Follow a theme across all four Vedas: origins, death, the cosmic order, sacrifice, the inquiry into the self. Sukta is built for the reader who has heard of the Vedas, perhaps grew up near them, and has never had a way in. It treats these texts the way a serious modern publisher would — neither devotional nor dismissive, neither Victorian nor mystical. Where a hymn raises a question still raised today, the connection is offered as philosophical resonance, never as a claim that the Vedas predicted modern science. That distinction is held at every layer of the app. — 1,003 Rig Veda hymns (Maṇḍalas 1–10) — 734 Atharva Veda hymns (Kāṇḍas 1–20) — 78 Yajur Veda chapters (Mādhyandina + Kāṇva recensions) — 184 Sāma Veda hymns with their Rig Veda source verses Every hymn is searchable in plain English. Every chant cites the scholarly literature you should go to next — Jamison & Brereton, Doniger, Bloomfield, Gonda, Smith, Staal. Sukta is a study tool, not a replacement for scholarship. It is the way in. Sukta is free to read end to end. A small monthly subscription, Sukta Pro, unlocks deeper conversations: longer answers, follow-ups, and unlimited daily questions. Cancel anytime. Sukta Pro Monthly is an auto-renewable subscription at $4.99 USD per month. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
