About Family Museum: Story Archive

There's a moment, usually in a kitchen, when someone starts a story with "you probably don't remember this, but…" and you realize you're the last person who might. Family Museum is for that moment. Voice memoir meets family tree. Tap record and let them talk. Their words appear as they speak, written down right on your iPhone. When they stop, Family Museum helps you mark who said which line, finds the people, places and dates they mention, and keeps the story with everyone in it on your family tree. A family tree of voices, not just names and dates. What it does — Records any length, pauses when they pause, and keeps going when the phone locks — Writes down every word on your iPhone with Apple Speech, then labels who was speaking — Opens on your family tree: tap anyone to see who they are to you, invite them, or open their page — Gives every person a page: the stories they told in their own voice, and what the family says about them, year by year — Suggests when a story happened from what was said — "when I was ten" becomes a year — for you to confirm — Adds photos to stories, follows the transcript as the recording plays, and brings in Voice Memos or audio files — Ask anything in plain English ("what stories happen in the kitchen?") and get answers that point back to the recordings — Syncs privately across your devices with iCloud and shares your family with relatives through Apple's CloudKit — and you choose who can hear each story: the family, or some people — Shares a single story outside the app as a 30-second clip with a quote card, behind a link that expires and that you can take back Who it's for — Anyone with an elder whose voice they don't want to forget — Families spread across homes who want one shared oral history — People who write their parents' stories on napkins at dinner and lose them by Tuesday — Anyone building a family tree who wishes the boxes had voices, not just dates Subscription — Family Museum Pro The first 10 stories are free. After that, Family Museum Pro lets your family keep recording stories and asking about them. — Family Museum Pro Monthly — $9.99 / month, auto-renews — Family Museum Pro Yearly — $79.99 / year, auto-renews, 7-day free trial Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings. Privacy Policy: https://www.familymuseum.co/privacy Terms of Use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ Privacy Your family's stories live on your iPhone and in your iCloud, and recordings are written down on your iPhone. If you turn on "Use the internet when needed" and your iPhone can't do it alone, a recording may go to AssemblyAI to be written down, and a story's words to Anthropic to find names and dates. Ask sends your question and the words of the stories it searches to Anthropic through our relay. Stories for "Some people", and stories not shared yet, are never sent to AssemblyAI or Anthropic. Sharing with relatives uses Apple's CloudKit. A story you share outside the app is kept on our server for up to 30 days, and you can take it back sooner. What’s new

Version 2.0.7 · Updated September 28, 2026

A new family tree, and more ways to fill it. • The tree comes first. It opens on you, your parents and your brothers and sisters. Tap anyone to see who they are to you, invite them, or open their page. • A cleaner tree: parents stand together over their children, aunts and uncles on the outside, and lines never cross or double up — cousin marriages included. • Add a partner's parents and brothers and sisters. Their family opens in its own view, side by side with yours. • Zoom like Maps: pinch, double-tap, or double-tap and drag. • Everyone in the tree has a page: their stories in their own voice and what the family says about them, year by year. For someone who has passed, "Add a memory". • Inviting is one screen, and joining from a link is quicker. • Choose who can hear each story: the family, or some people. • Stories: add a photo, follow the transcript as it plays, name a voice once for every line they spoke, and share a 30-second clip with a quote card behind a link that expires. • Bring in a Voice Memo or an audio file — it's transcribed on your iPhone. • Smarter dates: "when I was 10 or 11" becomes a year from your birth year, and the app only suggests dates you actually said. • Settings, regrouped into five clear sections. • And many fixes.
