About KumaMihari – Japan Bear Alerts
KumaMihari is a free app for staying safer outdoors in Japan. It brings reported bear sightings — from local governments, news, and users — together on one bilingual map. When a bear is reported near your home, workplace, trailhead, or destination, you get a push alert, even with the app closed. You choose the radius you want to be notified about. Features • See reported bear sightings on a real-time map • Push alerts when a sighting is reported within your radius • Official, news, and community reports in one place • Japanese and English — usable as-is for visiting hikers • No account required; privacy-first by design KumaMihari does not predict bears. It delivers reported facts, fast and clearly, so you can check the situation near you before you head out.
