The community at travelmapping.net processes these files and visualizes your travels on interactive maps. This app lets you browse that data, track your progress, and keep your .list file current — select segments on the map, or record GPS road trips that match to TravelMapping routes, and the app adds the new parts to your file. New to Travel Mapping? The app includes a Get Started guide to help you create your username and submit your first .list file. SUPPORTED REGIONS Travel Mapping covers highways in nearly 400 regions across 147 countries, plus rail and transit via tmrail.teresco.org. OPEN SOURCE & COMMUNITY Travel Mapping is a volunteer-driven, open-source project. This app reads its public API — no account creation required. Privacy: No ads, no third-party analytics. Anonymous diagnostics (crashes, hangs, performance, logs, screenshots, short session replays) are collected via Sentry to improve stability, with your username and GitHub login removed. Location data stays on your device or syncs privately via iCloud. GitHub sign-in and AI suggestions send data only after you turn them on, only to GitHub or your AI provider — never to the developer. Tips in the app go to the app's developer, not to the Travel Mapping project.

What’s new

Version 1.4 · Updated October 31, 2026

Road trips, cleaned up. • A redesigned Road Trips screen — lifetime totals, trips grouped by month, search by trip, route, or note, and a thumbnail of every drive. • More accurate trips — a segment only counts when your GPS track actually follows it end to end, so a side road next to a freeway or a road running beside your route no longer shows up as new. • Check before you add — from the list of segments not in your .list yet, open the map of the trip that caught each one. • Didn't travel it? Swipe a segment away and it stays out of your updates on every device, with a one-tap restore. • Easier-to-read trips — each road you drove is one row, from where you got on to where you got off; tap it to see every segment. • No more empty trips — if a spotty connection kept segments from downloading on the road, the app keeps retrying, and a trip that still came up empty can be matched again from its GPS track. • One pull request for everything — road, rail, and List checkup changes go into a single pull request, with a title you can edit and a choice of draft or ready for review. • Finished pull requests tidied up — the app can delete its branches on your GitHub fork once they're merged and keep your fork up to date (or leave everything as is; see Settings › GitHub). Signing in to GitHub is optional: the app can also build your updated .list or .rlist for you to paste in. • Pick your username from a list — Settings suggests TravelMapping travelers as you type. • Remaining-only map — new Traveled and Remaining filters let you see just the roads you haven't driven. • Smarter List checkup — stray punctuation in a waypoint label is fixed automatically, and lines you've already fixed in an open pull request are left alone. • Fixes for app hangs on the map, and other improvements.
