About Tarsier: Learn Tagalog

Tarsier is a Tagalog app built only for Tagalog. Every lesson starts from how the language works: root words, affixes, verb focus, the ang/ng/sa markers, and the Taglish you'll hear in real conversation. Whether you grew up hearing Tagalog at home but never learned to speak it, or you're picking it up for the first time, Tarsier teaches a few words at a time and then puts them to use in a conversation. What’s new

Version 2.1.1 · Updated October 21, 2026

Thank you for using Tarsier! This 2.1.1 update fixes a crash in the first lesson and keeps your progress in step across your devices. Improvements • Word bubbles: tap a word to see how to say it, what kind of word it is, and the parts it is built from. • Two devices: opening the app brings in the progress you made on your other iPhone or iPad. • Signing in: type the code from the email instead of tapping its link, and go back to fix a mistyped address. • Change Email: change your account's email from your account page. • iCloud backup: choosing which progress to keep is simpler. Fixes • Fixed the app closing on the first lesson's Casual Talk and Formal Talk card. • Fixed pale strips across the map after finishing a lesson. • Fixed Today's Review showing the same cards every session. • Fixed coffee, water and food questions in Ordering Food that offered unrelated answers. They're picture choices now, with milk (gatas) added. • Fixed an older device saving its progress over newer lessons from another, and signing out on one device signing you out on the others. • Fixed lesson questions with confusing or wrong answers in both Tagalog 1.0 and 2.0. • Fixed spoken lines that played louder or quieter than the rest. • Fixed grammar sheets running off the edges of smaller iPhones. • Fixed the problems you reported. Thank you everyone who helped!
