About LB: Universal Scanner

Take control of what you scan with LB: Universal Scanner, a privacy-respecting product scanner for food, cat food, cosmetics, and cleaning products. Whether you are checking groceries, reviewing an imported ingredient list, scanning a cosmetic label, or looking up a household product, LB helps you understand what is inside with fast barcode lookup, text scanning, translation, and clear ingredient insights. WHY CHOOSE LB? No Accounts, No Hassle: Just download and start scanning. LB does not require your name, email, or phone number. Privacy First: Your scan history is stored on your device. You can disable history at any time, and you stay in control of your data. Multiple Scanner Modes: Switch between food, cat food, cosmetics, and cleaning products so each product type gets the right database and ingredient analysis. CORE FEATURES: Multi-Source Barcode Scanning: LB checks public product databases such as Open Food Facts, Pro Open Food Facts, Open Pet Food Facts, Open Beauty Facts, Open Products Facts, and FoodRepo where available. Advanced Text Scan: Barcode missing, damaged, or not found? Take a photo of the ingredient list and LB will use text recognition to analyze it directly. Ingredient Insights: See highlighted ingredients grouped by concern or benefit, including warnings, allergens, helpful ingredients, and lower-concern items. Smart Translation: Translate product names, ingredients, warnings, and spoken summaries into your preferred language. Useful for imported products or travel. Allergen & Warning Alerts: LB checks ingredients against local databases for common allergens and ingredient warnings, including gluten, milk, peanuts, soy, sesame, sulfites, and more. Nutrition, Nutri-Score & Eco-Score: For food products, quickly review available nutrition details, Nutri-Score, Eco-Score, and high sugar, salt, or saturated fat alerts. Cosmetic & Chemical References: For supported cosmetic ingredients, LB can help open free external references such as PubChem, CosIng, ECHA, and EWG. Voice Assistant Mode: Enable spoken summaries for a more accessible scanning experience. Optional Tips: LB stays free. Optional tips are available if you want to support development, but they do not unlock features or bonuses. HOW IT WORKS: 1. Choose a scanner mode: Food, cat food, cosmetics, or cleaning products. 2. Scan a barcode: Get product details from supported public databases. 3. Review the results: See ingredients, warnings, allergens, nutrition, and ingredient insights. 4. Use photo scan if needed: Take a picture of the ingredient list when barcode results are missing. 5. Translate and revisit: Translate results into your preferred language and revisit past scans from history. Database coverage depends on public sources, so some products may be missing or incomplete. LB is an informational tool and does not replace medical, veterinary, or professional safety advice.

What’s new

Version 1.2.16 · Updated October 23, 2026

LB Universal Scanner - V1.2.16 update logs ========================================= Access in Motion "Capture clearly. Hear more. Keep your evidence." Manual capture now waits for a settled, readable candidate using movement stability, recognized text, line structure and visible text coverage before saving a result. This helps with motion and limited hand control, but it cannot recover text that the camera never captured and it does not certify that a label is complete or correct. Users can choose immediate capture or a three- or five-second preparation delay, giving more time to position the phone, steady a hand or place the package. Optional vibration guidance accompanies barcode and label-scanning guidance when enabled. It provides local device feedback alongside the existing visual and spoken instructions. Manual label scanning now includes a hands-free command button. Device speech recognition can accept capture, repeat or cancel commands, with clear fallback behavior when speech recognition is unavailable. Spoken results continue to use the selected language and the evidence already present in the result. Saved evidence for one selected product can now be exported to a password-protected local file. The export contains that product\'s saved evidence and retained package photos only; it does not include the full scan history, other products or profile settings. The export remains user-controlled and is not uploaded automatically. The existing evidence workflow remains connected: reviewed label panels, original and reviewed text, saved versions and differences, package-versus-database comparison, manufacturer replies, product warnings and source context. Missing, blurred or conflicting information remains visible as unknown or uncertain instead of being filled with a guess. This release does not claim that every difficult image can be recovered, that a quality score authenticates a label, or that captured evidence proves safety. Check the real package and current official documents whenever safety matters. Accessibility also needs testing with real users and devices, including screen readers, voice output, touch interaction and camera workflows. Accessibility entry point: Welcome and scanner home now offer Hear how to use LB. It enables voice assistance, explains the core actions aloud, and gives the main voice switch an explicit screen-reader label and state. This supports TalkBack and VoiceOver navigation; it does not replace the operating system screen readers or guarantee independent use without testing with real users. Ingredient detail pages: tap an analyzed ingredient card to open its dedicated page. The page brings together the matching bundled record, plain-language explanation, reference impact, aliases, categories, declared allergens, warnings, related and derived ingredients, cross-reference notes, dataset scope, entry counts, review metadata and available source links. Missing fields remain missing, and the page does not certify the safety or suitability of the complete product.
