About Dictus: AI Voice Keyboard

Dictus is a voice keyboard that types what you say. Tap the mic, speak, and your words appear in any app. Everything runs on your iPhone. WORKS COMPLETELY OFFLINE Speech recognition happens on your device, powered by Whisper and Parakeet models. No internet required. No servers involved. Dictate on a plane, in the subway, anywhere. YOUR VOICE STAYS YOURS Nothing ever leaves your iPhone. No account. No tracking. No analytics. The microphone is used for one thing: turning your speech into text, locally. OPEN SOURCE AND VERIFIABLE Dictus is fully open source (MIT license). Anyone can read the code and verify these privacy claims. You do not have to trust us. You can check. github.com/getdictus/dictus-ios A REAL KEYBOARD Dictus is also a complete keyboard: type when you want, talk when you do not. Autocorrect, suggestions, emoji search, and a mic key always one tap away. DICTATE IN FAR MORE THAN FOUR LANGUAGES The keyboard itself is built for four: French, English, German and Spanish, with the right layout, autocorrect and suggestions for each. Dictation goes much further. Parakeet, the default model, transcribes 25 European languages and detects which one you are speaking. The Whisper models reach close to a hundred. Every model tells you which languages it handles well before you download it. CHOOSE YOUR MODEL Pick the model that fits your iPhone, from compact and fast to maximum accuracy. Download once, use forever, stored locally. Dictus collects no data. Privacy policy: getdictus.com/privacy

What’s new

Version 1.9.0 · Updated September 24, 2026

Dictus takes you back to the app you were writing in. Tap the mic on the keyboard, speak, and you land back in Notes, Messages or wherever you were, with your text already typed. It works in 87 apps today. When an app cannot be resumed, the swipe back hint appears exactly as before, and Dictus never opens the wrong app. A new engine for French: Nemotron 3.5. Parakeet sometimes drifts into English in the middle of a French dictation. Nemotron can be locked to a language, so French stays French from the first word to the last. It is an added choice rather than a replacement: on clean French Parakeet is still more accurate, and Nemotron is weaker on English jargon. Download it from Models. A dictation started just after installing is no longer lost. The keyboard used to let you record while the model was still compiling, and the text never arrived. It now sends you to the preparation screen instead, and that screen stays up until the model is really ready rather than claiming it after two seconds. Also fixed: two words could get glued together after you deleted a selected word.
