About RunMap2GPX

Plan running and walking routes the simple way. RunMap2GPX lets you draw a route on Apple Maps by tapping waypoints. Each segment snaps to real roads, paths, and sidewalks automatically. You see the total distance update in real time as you build your route, so it's easy to plan a 5K, 10K, or any distance you want. When you're happy with your route, export it as a standard GPX file and send it to any sports tracker — WorkOutdoors, Strava, Komoot, Garmin Connect, or any app that supports GPX import. Use AirDrop to send it straight to your Apple Watch. WHY RUNMAP2GPX? • No account needed — just open and start tapping • No subscription — completely free, no ads, no in-app purchases • No data collected — your location is never stored or shared • One screen, zero clutter — the map is the entire app FEATURES • Tap waypoints on Apple Maps to build your route • Automatic road-snapping follows real streets and paths • Live distance display updates as you add and adjust points • Drag waypoints to fine-tune your route • Close the loop — tap the start point to route back home • Search any location to quickly find your starting area • Switch between standard, satellite, and hybrid map views • Export GPX 1.1 files via share sheet (AirDrop, Files, email, or open directly in your tracker app) • Name your route before exporting • Undo and redo your last waypoints • Works in metric or imperial — follows your device locale PERFECT FOR • Runners planning training routes of a specific distance • Walkers exploring new neighbourhoods • Hikers scouting trails on satellite view • Anyone who uses GPX files with sport tracker apps COMPATIBLE WITH WorkOutdoors, Strava, Komoot, Garmin Connect, Ride with GPS, and any app that imports GPX files. PRIVACY RunMap2GPX does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Location access is optional and used only to centre the map on your position. See our privacy policy for details.

What’s new

Version 1.1 · Updated April 26, 2026

What's new in 1.1 • Turn-by-turn navigation cues in exported GPX — your watch or sports app now sees every turn directly, no more "detect bends" guesswork (works great with WorkOutdoors, Strava, and others). • Saved routes — every export is now stored automatically. Browse, re-share, re-open for editing, or delete past routes from the new Settings menu. • New Settings menu (tap the gear icon, top right) — switch map styles, set a custom default name prefix for new routes, and manage your saved routes. • New "Just save, don't share" button in the export sheet — keep a route locally without opening the share sheet. --- Tweak the WorkOutdoors mention if you'd rather not name competitors/specific apps in App Store copy. Or shorter version if you want to trim: --- • Navigation waypoints in GPX exports so your watch sees every turn directly. • Saved routes — exports are saved automatically. Re-share, re-open, or delete from the new Settings menu (gear icon, top right). • Settings: switch map styles and set a custom name prefix for new routes.
