About Undercast Weather Aether

UndercastWeather Aether delivers National Weather Service forecasts alongside on-device, model-enhanced predictions you can compare side by side. The idea is simple: you should be able to see the official forecast AND a smarter interpretation of it — without giving up your privacy. WHAT MAKES UNDERCAST DIFFERENT • Dual-mode forecasts — switch between raw NWS data and Aether-enhanced predictions with a tap • On-device learning — Aether refines its forecasts using local signals; nothing leaves your device • Severe weather Live Activities — Tornado, Thunderstorm, Flood, and other warnings appear on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island the moment they're issued, with hazard-specific icons • Astronomical data — sunrise, sunset, moon phase, and twilight times sourced from the U.S. Naval Observatory • Searchable — find any U.S. location by ZIP code, city, or state, no location sharing required BUILT FOR APPLE PLATFORMS Native experiences on Mac, iPhone, and iPad — with a Home Screen widget for at-a-glance conditions. ONGOING UPDATES UndercastWeather regularly updates Aether to improve accuracy, performance, and features. PRIVACY FIRST Aether's learning happens on device. Your trained data never leaves your devices — with optional iCloud sync, it moves only between your Apple devices through your private iCloud account. You don't need to share your location to use the app, and we don't collect telemetry on your forecast usage. Our apps do not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, tracking SDKs, data brokers, or third-party service connections. We encourage every user to turn on Apple’s App Privacy Report to see this for themselves. To enable App Privacy Report on iPhone or iPad, open Settings > Privacy & Security > App Privacy Report > Turn On App Privacy Report. After you use the app for a while, iOS will show the network domains contacted by the app. For our apps, expected network activity should be limited to Apple-operated services needed for normal App Store, iCloud, device, or system functionality. In our weather app, you may also see direct connections to official weather or environmental data sources, such as NOAA, EPA, or similar public data originators used to provide the requested forecast, alert, air-quality, or environmental information. We believe privacy claims should be inspectable, not merely promised. NOTE Only locations within the United States are supported, as Aether is trained (on device) on data sourced by you from the National Weather Service.

What’s new

Version 1.7.3 · Updated October 14, 2026

New in 1.7.3 APPLE WATCH • The watch now shows the weather where you are. When it can't get a location fix, it falls back to your Home location instead of a stale pick. • Set a Home in Settings on your iPhone and it carries over to the watch automatically. • My Location takes a fresh fix on demand, and the complication follows whichever place the watch is showing. AETHER LEARNS MORE (still all on device) • Aether now learns today's forecast, not just the days ahead. It compares what the forecast said each hour would be with what your nearest station actually recorded, and uses that drift to adjust tomorrow's "today." • Expect the first adjustments a day or two after updating, once a full day of station readings has come in. New in 1.7.2 • A new app icon, built for the Liquid Glass look on iOS 26, macOS Tahoe and watchOS 26, with a matching icon on earlier releases. • Lock Screen widgets: a circular temperature gauge, a rectangular card with conditions and high/low, and an inline one-liner. • Watch-face complications in circular, corner, rectangular and inline styles, refreshed straight from the National Weather Service when your iPhone isn't around. • Now runs on iOS 18, macOS 15 and watchOS 11. AETHER LEARNS MORE (still all on device) • Aether now checks its forecasts against the temperatures your nearest weather station actually recorded, not just later forecast revisions, so its corrections improve faster. • Your current location keeps its learning history between launches. FIXES • Today's high and low are adjusted after midnight and for locations stored in other time zones. • Sunrise, sunset and twilight are correct on the days the clocks change. • Expanded day graphs stay open when the forecast refreshes. • Air quality and dew point show "--" when no reading is available, instead of 0. • The watch remembers the place you picked, even with no iPhone nearby, and its complication follows the location your iPhone is showing. • Switching to a different place no longer briefly shows the previous place's weather. • The UV index no longer drops to 0 when Aether adjusts the forecast. • Loading screens and forecast-accuracy stats respect your °C setting. • The 24-hour clock setting now applies everywhere, including on the watch. • VoiceOver now reads the temperature arc, 24-hour chart, daily rows and air quality gauge.
