About Bees Knees: Hive & Beekeeping
Bees Knees is the simple, reliable way to manage your apiaries from the hive side — built for beekeepers, by beekeepers. Record a full hive inspection in seconds with glove-friendly controls: colony strength, stores and brood, queen sightings, disease and varroa checks, swarm signs and the actions you took. Everything is saved on your phone first, so it works perfectly in the apiary with no signal — and syncs automatically to your free Bees Knees web account when you're back online. WHAT YOU CAN TRACK • Apiaries and hives, with photos, locations and notes • Inspections with health ratings, queen status, disease and varroa records • Queens — marking colour and year, clipping, temperament • Honey and wax harvests, with quantity and floral source • Treatments and feeding records • Hive weights over time • Income and expenses PLAN AND STAY ON TOP • Calendar and to-do view with one-off and recurring reminders • "Needs attention" prompts for hives overdue an inspection • Apiary map with forage-range rings and current weather SEE THE BIGGER PICTURE • Reports for honey per month, top hives, colony averages and finances • Dashboard summary of your whole operation at a glance WORKS ANYWHERE • Offline-first: full functionality with no connection • Free cloud sync keeps your phone and the web in step • Optional Face ID / Touch ID lock Bees Knees is a free companion to the free Bees Knees website. Create an account on either, and your records follow you everywhere. You stay in control of your data — manage your account and delete it at any time, from the app or the web.
What’s new
Version 1.6.5 · Updated October 21, 2026
WITHDRAWAL DATES AFTER THE CLOCKS CHANGE: A treatment's withdrawal period could end a day early on the phone once the clocks went back. It now ends on the right day, on the record, the reminder and the medicines record. REMINDERS THAT ALERT WHEN THEY SHOULD: The Notifications switch in Settings now turns alerts off and on. A reminder with no time sounds at 9am on its day, including one set for today. A reminder ticked off or deleted on the website, or on another phone, stops alerting. Monthly reminders keep their day of the month, and fortnightly reminders made on the phone repeat on the website too. ADD TO CALENDAR, ONCE: A reminder with Add to Calendar on no longer offers to add itself to your calendar every time it is saved, only when it is new or its day, time or title changes. SALES AND STOCK: Selling more jars than you had counted leaves the stock below zero, shown as "short", so editing or deleting that sale later puts back only what was there. An older sale saved before items existed opens with its item and total. A gift changed to a sale is counted in your finances. A large order with many items now saves. Every currency can be picked on smaller iPhones. THE HIVE PAGE: The tabs can be read in Dark Mode, the weight chart shows kg and lb readings on one scale, and a kit item that fails to save says so. KEEPING YOUR RECORDS SAFE: A record deleted while the phone was syncing stays deleted. Deleting an apiary takes its hives with it straight away. A weight typed as 12,5 saves as 12.5, not 125. Continuing without an account warns you first if any records have not reached the website yet. SIGNING IN: Changing your password keeps this phone signed in. Signing in with no signal now says so. A weak signal while your session renews no longer signs you out. SMALLER FIXES: The site plan asks before throwing away a plan you have not saved. App Lock lets you in if the phone's passcode has been removed. Dictation that cannot start says so. Very large numbers can no longer be typed into the hornet count, product size or stock count.
