That's a Day?

Happy Lost Sock Memorial Day. Wait, that's a day? It is. May 9, every year. Tomorrow is one too. So is the day after. So is that unremarkable Tuesday in March you had no plans for. That's a Day? is a calendar of over 2,000 real holidays: the famous ones, the strange ones, and a genuinely alarming number of days about pie. Open it in the morning and find out what today is. EVERY MORNING, SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE • Today's celebrations, with one picked out as the headline • The origin story, including who started it and why they bothered • A few fun facts per holiday, which is a few more than you had yesterday • A few ways to actually celebrate, from "do it at your desk" to "clear your afternoon" • Somewhere near you to do it, when somewhere near you exists DAYS WE ARE NOT MAKING UP Spreadsheet Day. Iguana Awareness Day. If Pets Had Thumbs Day. World Camel Day. Talk Like a Pirate Day. Ditch New Year's Resolution Day, which lands on January 17 with impeccable timing. Each one is checked against a real source before it ships. The origins, the facts and the ways to celebrate are reviewed by our editorial team, and anything we cannot stand behind gets cut instead of padded out. THE WEEK AHEAD See what's coming so you can plan the good ones. Some holidays deserve notice. Banana Split Day deserves notice.
