About Verve: MET Fitness Tracker
Verve — Cardiorespiratory Fitness & Longevity Tracker Verve tracks the metric that predicts mortality better than almost any other: your cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) in METs, validated against 122,000 patients in the Cleveland Clinic study. What Verve measures Weekly MET-hours — the primary output of every fitness session Zone 2 minutes — the aerobic work that moves your CRF Strength training minutes — independently linked to 23% lower all-cause mortality (UK Biobank, 70,000+) Daily step count and cadence CRF performance tier vs your age and sex (Cleveland Clinic / ACSM norms) Resting heart rate trend Metabolic health markers: glucose, blood pressure (28-day avg from Apple Health), triglycerides, HDL, waist Muscle health: grip strength, body fat %, skeletal muscle %, FFMI AI Coach Every month, your AI Coach synthesises your activity, body composition, and CRF history into a two-sentence narrative and one focused recommendation — telling you what you achieved and exactly what to do next. CRF Testing — 6 clinical methods Manual entry · Bruce Protocol · 6-Minute Walk · HR Ratio (Uth-Sørensen) · Wearable VO₂Max import · Treadmill test Apple Health integration Syncs workouts, resting HR, VO₂Max, weight, steps, and now blood pressure from any wearable connected to Apple Health. Background movement estimated via Nakanishi (2021) model. Not a medical device. Not FDA approved. Not medical advice.
What’s new
Version 1.6.2 · Updated September 25, 2026
Verve 1.6.2 — Trends, Body and Sleep, rebuilt. TRENDS, REBUILT • Snapshot: four tiles — fitness, sleep, resting heart rate, sitting — and each opens its own page. • Over Time: one lens for the week, four weeks, months and years. Every period opens its ledger. • Prior Weeks: each week's minutes, strength sessions, sleep, resting heart rate and recovery, side by side. • The Route: your fitness tests, your tier, what moved it, and when to retest. • The Guide replaces Field Notes, the coach card and AI Compare: the last completed week against the one before, with your body markers woven in. Pro compares any two periods. HEART RATE RECOVERY — NEW • Verve reads the minute after each workout truly ends and derives your recovery, with Apple's own reading beside it and your median as the line. A page per day, and a dot strip across the Trends lenses. SLEEP • A full Sleep page: each night as one bar with its stages, every night on the clock, a Sleep section in every Trends lens, two calendar years back. Naps count. • Sleep timing: bedtime average with its drift, bedtime spread two ways, and a Sleep Regularity Index read against your own months, not a population. BODY, REBUILT • Three dials for metabolic, heart and muscle health. Each section is a page; the lab timeline reads by year. • Every marker draws its own history against its bands. Back-date a reading by scrolling. Readings prefill from Apple Health, with provenance. • New: HbA1c, hip circumference, waist-to-height and waist-to-hip, whole-body lean mass, and the SPPB score. FFMI folds into Body fat; ALMI is judged by EWGSOP2. Duplicate readings are now impossible. • Blood pressure: read from Apple Health's own cuff log, averaged honestly, judged by AHA or ESC (your choice), tagged home or office. • Lab values read on the website's My health page arrive in the app unchecked, and ask for a look before they count. FITNESS TEST FLOW • ACSM 2015 screening, five checks, one recommendation from your recorded training. A retest outlook says whether the number will actually have moved. An 8-week window; detraining flagged after 2 quiet weeks. ACTIVITY • Today's four tiles first, then CRF, the Ascent, and a Workouts card for aerobic and strength. A workout is a page in Verve's own terms: MET-hours, band split, Zone 2, the trace and the recovery. • Physical Activity Level with a trend, backfilled from Apple Health. • Movement Balance opens as a page; the day's nap is recorded. • Background movement is split by its own heart rate, not the day's mean. THE WORKOUT PAGE, IN FIGURES • Every card is a number and its unit. The calorie estimate, the band notes and the captions are gone; how each figure is read now lives at verve-app.health/science, one tap from the foot of the page. • The last card says what this session was of your week's moderate and vigorous minutes, as a share. MOVEMENT BALANCE, TIGHTER • Sitting today as the one headline, your usual beside it. Standing, longest sit, sits over 30 minutes and hours moved as four tiles. The week as a table of numerals; Prior Weeks carries the same table with a longest-sit row. THE LEDGER, ONE UNIT STYLE • min, h, kcal, km, spm and bpm written the same way in every cell. Steps and energy as whole numbers: 246,000 steps, 18,000 kcal. SLEEP STAGES, ONE DEVICE • When an Apple Watch and a ring both write stages for the same night, Verve used to add them together and double every bar. Now one writer is chosen per night, and the bar says whose stages it shows. SETUP • Height, weight and resting heart rate fill in from Apple Health. Ethnicity and smoking are asked at setup, one Health permission sheet instead of two. ALSO • Onboarding in three cards, and a setup that says what to do this week. • Settings in six groups, an honest Pro page, backup for everyone, and a Wearables page. • The Activity page loads once and paints from cache while Apple Health answers. • The medical disclaimer lives in Settings.
