About Lawn Apprentice

Lawn Apprentice is a free lawn care app for any US lawn, cool-season or warm-season. Clover, the built-in assistant, uses your grass type, soil test, local weather and the jobs you've logged to tell you what to do and when. KNOW WHAT TO DO TODAY Home opens with a short note from Clover for today: it tells you whether to mow, water or feed, or to wait because rain, heat or a recent application says so. Your lawn score tracks mowing, watering, feeding and seasonal jobs, with watering measured against your local rainfall and evaporation, not a fixed weekly rule. A PLAN FOR YOUR SEASON Ask Clover for a plan, or start one from the Plan tab. It drafts the season's feedings, weed prevention and seeding, timed from three years of soil and air temperature history for your yard, so the dates fit Minnesota, Texas or anywhere in between. Nothing is added until you review it, and you can remove any step you'd skip. If you do a feeding late, the next one moves to keep the spacing right, and you'll get a reminder when the next season is ready to plan. ASK CLOVER ANYTHING • Send a photo of a weed or a problem spot and get likely causes with next steps. • Log mowing, feeding and treatments by typing what you did. • Get exact product amounts for your lawn size, worked out with a calculator rather than estimated. • Clover checks every product against your grass type, recent seeding and the label's repeat limits before suggesting it. THE RIGHT PRODUCTS Clover's suggestions come with the product's price and label rate, and you can shop or schedule from there. The Store's "Curated for you" section picks products for your grass, season, equipment (sprayer or spreader) and soil test. EVERYTHING ABOUT YOUR LAWN IN ONE PLACE • Plan tab: upcoming tasks, reminders, and everything you've logged • Soil test results, with your lab's own ratings • Sprinkler zones and a watering schedule that skips rainy days • Forecast, rain totals and soil temperature for your location • Dark mode that follows your iPhone Supports tall fescue, Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, bermuda, zoysia, St. Augustine and centipede.

What’s new

Version 1.1.6 · Updated October 23, 2026

WHAT’S NEW • Seasonal jobs timed to your lawn: pre-emergent, overseeding, aeration, grub prevention, bermuda scalping and winter ryegrass now follow your soil temperature and local weather instead of the calendar, and shift with a warm or cold spring or fall. • Disease alerts: Home warns you when your weather favors brown patch, dollar spot, large patch or gray leaf spot, and tells you what to do. • Nitrogen tracking: the app adds up how much nitrogen your lawn has had this season against what your grass needs. Your Lawn Plan, score and Clover all use it. • Clover can save your soil test from a photo of the lab report (you confirm before anything is saved). • Share Clover’s answers with the new Share button. IMPROVEMENTS • Clover talks more like a neighbor and less like a manual, and answers faster. • Clover recommends the same products as your Lawn Plan and the Store, matched to your sprayer or spreader. • Clover knows when your next feeding should go down, and won’t suggest one too soon after the last or right before a planned one. • Asking Clover about a score now tells you what’s coming next instead of repeating the card. • Clover follows up better on earlier messages, and knows more about moss, drought, pet spots, salt and frost damage, animal digging and spills. • Watering advice tells you how much to put down, even before your rain history loads. • Soil pH is judged for your grass type (centipede prefers it lower). • Without a saved address, Clover asks for your location instead of guessing your season. FIXES • Logging an activity now completes the matching task, and plan steps you did aren’t marked missed. • No pre-emergent suggested within 60 days of seeding, and no feeding for dormant grass or cool-season grass in summer heat. • Seeding is held during summer heat, and fall pre-emergent is only suggested while it can still work. • Ryegrass for winter color is no longer refused on bermuda. • Your lawn data loads as soon as you sign in.
