About PXLCAM: Climate Clock Camera
PXLCAM is a camera that pushes back. Every photo you take has a footprint. Higher resolution means bigger files, which take more energy to store and share. Most cameras are in a race to capture more. PXLCAM goes the other way. SHOOT Take photos in a retro, lo-fi aesthetic – grainy, dithered, and intentionally low-resolution. Smaller files by design, lighter on storage and energy. STAMP Every photo is stamped with the date, the time, and the Climate Clock: a live countdown showing how long scientists estimate we have left to meaningfully act on climate change. It makes an abstract deadline personal, embedded into the everyday. The clock ticks in every shot, quietly asking: what are you capturing, and why does it matter? SHARE Browse your shots in the gallery and share them with the people who should see them. A camera is a tool for noticing. This update adds more ways to capture and a smoother, more polished experience throughout. - Multi-lens camera: On iPhone 11 and later, pinch to switch between lenses—out for ultra-wide, in for telephoto where available—with a live zoom indicator. - Smoother zoom: Pinch-to-zoom is now smoother across all lenses, and the zoom indicator appears the moment you start pinching. - More ways to capture: Take photos using your volume buttons and other supported hardware controls, in addition to the on-screen shutter. - Gallery improvements: Pinch-to-zoom in the in-app gallery, a friendlier empty state, and smoother browsing. - Better permissions handling: Clearer guidance and easier access to settings when camera or photo permissions are off. - Give feedback from the app menu: New menu options to rate the app or send feedback directly. - Performance and stability: General performance improvements and bug fixes throughout.
