About Pulse: Your Micro-Journal

Your pulse, your day, your journal. Pulse is intentionally kept lean: no subscription, no cluttered interface — just you, a moment, and an honest read on how you're actually doing. Free and open source. HOW IT WORKS • Capture moments: a short thought, a rating from −2 (bad) to +2 (good), optional tags and location. Done in seconds. • Reflect on your day: one sentence of forecast in the morning, the summary in the evening — with your own metrics like sleep, deep work, exercise, or family time. Stoic reflection questions get you started. • Discover patterns: daily, weekly, and monthly views show you what lifts you up — and what doesn't. Filter by a single tag to look at one area of your life on its own. Good days have reasons. • AI coach: on request, Apple Intelligence analyzes your entries and surfaces insights about your patterns — running entirely on your device, no cloud. YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS Everything lives on your iPhone or iPad and in your private iCloud. Lock Pulse with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode if you like. No tracking, no ads, no accounts. The full source code is public on GitHub. Export to JSON anytime. WHO IS PULSE FOR? For everyone who has failed at classic journaling: no long entries, no pressure, no streak guilt. A micro-journal that fits your life — not the other way around. Questions or ideas? Pulse is actively developed — your feedback shapes the roadmap.

What’s new

Version 2.5 · Updated October 12, 2026

Version 2.5 brings Pulse to the iPad and, if you like, locks your journal behind Face ID. LOCK WITH FACE ID If you turn it on, Pulse locks as soon as you leave the app and only opens again with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode. Find it under Settings > General. PULSE ON IPAD On the big screen your content stays centered at a comfortable reading width, and the timeline keeps your day in the middle — even when you rotate the device or resize the window. EXPORT WITH FILTERS Export only what you need: a time range — this week, last month or your own — and, if you like, only moments with certain tags. The file format stays the same. SYNC STATUS AT A GLANCE Settings > Statistics now shows what iCloud is doing: when it last synced, whether you're offline, whether an iCloud account is missing or storage is full. SMALLER THINGS Days that a sync race can duplicate are merged automatically. Plus four new background images, a redesigned date display with "Today" and "Yesterday", and better VoiceOver support.
