Yarn Squirrel: Pattern Library

YarnSquirrel is your helper for all aspects of your knitting or crochet hobby: See your patterns and projects, catalog your stash and search for new ideas all from within one app. It works with Ravelry if you have it but it works just as well without it! You can sync or import all of your patterns. If you add a PDF it will try to get the most important information from it directly so you do not have to write everything by hand. It will also try and match it to Ravelry to be able to get even more detailed information from that. If all you have is a URL or a YouTube link, you can add them, too. YarnSquirrel is the easy way to have ALL of your patterns in one place where it is easy to filter them by yarn weight, needed yarn length or category or many other aspects. Each pattern gets a beautiful detail view where you can add all of the information that might be available like needed yardage, recommended yarns, hook sizes, difficulty etc. Similarly we try and make keeping on top of your stash way less work. Take a photo of the wrapper and we will try and get the name and search for the detail information on Ravelry. If it cannot be found you can add it manually of course. Got multiple colors? Just add the colors instead of having to re-add all information again. You can even store the Care Instructions for the yarn and it will get synced to your projects! You can then filter your stash any way you like to see what you have on hand. You can even directly filter your patterns or favorites based on a yarn you have stashed or go the other way round from a pattern to check whether you already own a fitting yarn. Making it easier to bridge the gap of combining the two. Patterns and yarns obviously make the basis for your projects, so the app makes it easy to start a project and add the yarn you are using to it. You can add notes and information like which needles or hooks you used to be sure to have all information in one place. Keep track of your progress and optionally sync it to Ravelry, too. For the projects the app also offers the ability to view the pattern instructions in the app and have multiple row counters visible at the same time to make sure you do not forget where you left off. Counters can be set to start and end between specific rows (with alerts) and can count their repeats, too. Of course you can also link counters to make it easier to keep your total while working on a sub-section. In addition to all of this you can also store information about your Bits & Bobs in the app: we've all bought beautiful buttons or safety eyes and forgotten what it is we actually have stored. You can easily add it to the app, too, and connect them to your projects as well. You can also search on Ravelry for patterns and yarns, even if you do not have an account with them. Save your favorites to know what you might want to work on in the future or create a color palette from some yarns to see if you would like that combination for a piece. Found a pattern online you like? You can directly save the url, too. Last but not least the app is trying to bridge the international gap: easily see what a yarn weight means in a different system (like for example what a German yarn would be in the US system) or switch between yards and meters on the fly. All of this in a cozy little app by an indie developer. It syncs via iCloud across all of your devices and there is no tracking and many parts of the app work offline, too.
