About RealDex: Animal Identifier
Point your camera at any animal and know what it is in seconds — then keep it. RealDex identifies the wildlife around you with AI that runs on your phone, and turns every sighting into a card in a field guide you build yourself. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Scan any animal with your camera and get a species name in seconds • Save each sighting as a catch, with the date and the place you found it • Collect a printed trading card for every species you identify, foil and all • Claim real city territories with the species you find there • Browse your Dex by species and family, and see what you are missing • Open a detailed page for any species • See all of your finds on your own map • Follow your streaks, achievements and Field Record progress AI THAT RUNS ON YOUR PHONE RealDex identifies species with our own model, on your device. It works with no signal at all, so the camera and your collection keep working on a trail, in a basement, or on a plane. Your photos stay on your phone. Cloud AI is the one exception: when you want a second opinion, you tap for it, and only then is that one photo sent to be identified. It is optional and off by default. BUILT FOR THE OUTDOORS A park, a trail, a beach or your own street becomes somewhere to look properly. Backyard birds, insects, spiders, reptiles, mammals and fish all count. RealDex now identifies with FieldNet 1, a model we trained ourselves on the animals people actually photograph. It gets more of them right, and it loads faster. FIELDNET 1 The identifier we licensed before has been replaced by one we built. It is better on the things you are most likely to point a camera at — backyard birds, insects, the lizard on the wall — and it is quicker to be ready after you install. As before, it runs on your phone and needs no signal. FREE CLOUD AI CREDITS Want a second opinion on a hard one? You can now earn Cloud AI scans by watching a short video, instead of waiting for next month. FASTER EVERYWHERE • The Dex list loads and scrolls noticeably quicker • Re-checking the same photo no longer redoes work it already did • The model no longer takes over the screen while it loads FIXED • Importing two photos from your gallery back to back could close the app. It cannot now. • The shutter could stop responding after switching tabs and returning. • A false crash warning on cold start is gone. • Legal and support links now point to the right place. NO MORE INTERSTITIAL ADS Full-screen ads between actions are gone for good. The banner stays; nothing interrupts a catch any more. IN YOUR LANGUAGE, ALL OF IT Every badge, mission and quest is now written in all nine languages, and dates and numbers follow your phone's settings. SAFER SAVING A catch, its XP and its missions are now saved together in one step. Closing the app mid-save can no longer lose a catch or count it twice. ALSO FIXED • A failed purchase no longer reads as "cancelled", and a slow start no longer drops you out of Premium for the session • A network blip no longer empties your Cloud AI balance or shows the paywall by mistake • Re-identifying a species no longer spends extra Cloud AI scans • Tapping a result twice no longer records the catch twice • Imported photos keep their own location and orientation, and very large ones no longer fail • Streaks count calendar days — a late-night and early-morning pair now counts • Denying photo access now explains what to do instead of a dead button Something wrong?
