About Konbini Legends: Japanese Life
Talk out loud in Japanese, in real time. Konbini Legends puts you in real voice conversations with an AI: you speak, it listens and answers back, whether you're at the city hall counter, the izakaya, the clinic or a meeting at work. You've been in Japan for years. You still point at menus. You nod along in meetings hoping nobody asks you a question. Konbini Legends is Japanese for people who live here, not for tourists. SPEAK, DON'T JUST TAP • Speaking scenes: answer the clerk, the doctor or the city hall counter out loud, step by step, each scene with its own illustrated setting. • Help while you speak: hints and English glosses for every line. • AI chat partners: 6 characters, from a strict sensei to a casual friend, plus free chat. LEARN WHAT ACTUALLY MATTERS • City Hall: tax forms, residence cards, health insurance. • Izakaya: order like a regular and finally know what you're eating. • Office Japanese: survive meetings and speak politely with your boss and clients. • Dating & Social: first dates without a translation app. • JLPT N5–N1: lessons, practice tests and review decks. • Anime Without Subs: watch raw and feel superior about it. REMEMBER IT • Spaced repetition decks for vocabulary, kanji and grammar. • Kanji stroke order. • Downloaded lessons work offline on the subway. ZERO GUILT • An optional shift streak with paid leave. Miss a day and nobody lectures you. • Reminders are optional. Free to use. Questions? [email protected]
What’s new
Version 19 · Updated October 13, 2026
This is our biggest update yet. Here's everything new since the last version: SPEAKING PRACTICE • Talk out loud, in real time. Hold the mic and have a real spoken conversation with a shop clerk, a doctor and more. They answer you in Japanese, by voice. • 26 everyday scenes, from the konbini and the izakaya to the dentist, the glasses shop and the ward office. • Every scene has its own woodblock-style illustration. • Stuck? Tap for hints and English for every line, or ask them to repeat or slow down. • At the end of a scene you get a review, and you can retry any step. LEARNING • JLPT-style practice tests with timed sections and an estimated score. • Kanji lessons and cards now show animated stroke order. • New listening practice. • Ask AI: stuck on a grammar lesson? Ask a question right in the lesson. • Furigana in conversation practice, plus a smoother word-bank exercise you can drag. REVIEW & STREAKS • New flashcard decks: kanji for N5 to N1, vocabulary starter decks and a fresh N5 grammar deck. Start them from "Learn new" in Review. • A new Japan-life prize card when you finish a review session. • Achievements: a timecard of your shifts, plus a shareable field report. • Your streak now counts your review days correctly. LOOK & FEEL • A new Home hub that makes it easy to pick what to do next. • Lesson and review screens fit on one screen without scrolling, and review cards fill the screen. • Better contrast and bigger buttons for easier reading. • Lots of small fixes to make everything smoother.
