About Japanese Dictionary - Jisoku

Jisoku — Japanese, made effortless. Hi there! Jisoku is a Japanese dictionary that fits in your pocket and works anywhere: on the train, on a flight, or deep in a basement with zero bars. Whether you're learning your very first hiragana or polishing up for JLPT N1, we're here to make every lookup quick and every word stick. LOOK UP ANYTHING, ANYWHERE Type in English, Japanese, or romaji, and Jisoku figures out what you mean. All 200,000+ words and 13,000+ kanji live right on your device, so you never have to wait for a signal. POINT YOUR CAMERA, READ IT LIVE Aim at a sign, a menu, or a train timetable and watch the meanings appear as you go. Prefer a photo? Snap one and tap any word on it. Everything is read on your device, and your photos never leave your phone. TYPE IT THE WAY YOU HEAR IT 食べて, 行った, 食べました: search the way people actually talk. Jisoku finds the dictionary form for you and tells you which conjugation you typed. SOUND NATURAL Pitch accent graphs show how every word rises and falls, so 箸 (chopsticks) and 橋 (bridge) never trip you up again. FALL IN LOVE WITH KANJI Watch brush-style stroke order animations and step through each stroke at your own pace. Can't type a kanji? Find it by its radicals, or simply draw it. FIND JUST THE RIGHT WORD Word Finder lets you stack filters like part of speech, pitch pattern, and how common a word is, so you can explore the dictionary your way. MAKE IT STICK Turn any word or kanji into a flashcard and review it in short spaced-repetition sessions. Keep your streak going, fill up your stamp book, and enjoy a little celebration every time you finish. Gentle reminders help you keep showing up. MAKE IT YOURS Add your own notes to words and kanji (and search them later), save your favorites, and say hello to the Word & Kanji of the Day widget on your Home Screen. Everything syncs across your Apple devices with iCloud. No accounts. No sign-ups. Just you and Japanese. がんばって!

What’s new

A polish update to keep your daily study running smoothly: • Flashcards that iCloud sync had duplicated are now merged back into one. • Reviews are steadier: fixed a glitch when swiping quickly, retries are counted correctly, and cards you miss stay scheduled even if you stop early. • Your study day only counts as complete once you're all caught up. • Study reminders keep working after you finish your reviews. • The "due" date on flashcards is no longer a day off. • Kanji links open correctly on iPad. • News and tips from us can now appear on the Search screen. • More Japanese translation fixes. Thanks for learning with us!
