What’s new
Version 1.4.2 · Updated October 12, 2026
This update is about your music coming back when something interrupts it. Your music resumes on its own after an interruption. When a call, an alarm, or a Siri reply in CarPlay took the audio, BitDek paused and then stayed paused. iOS was telling it the interruption was over. BitDek was never listening for that message, in any version until now. It listens now, and it follows the same rules as Apple Music on the same phone. A call or alarm ends and the music picks up where it left off. Pause it yourself during the call and it stays paused. Take your AirPods out and it stays paused until the AirPods themselves ask for it back. Add Next and Add to Queue now do what they say while shuffle is on. Before, adding a song re-dealt every upcoming track into a new random order, and Add Next lost the song entirely. Now Add Next puts your pick right after the current song, Add to Queue puts it at the end, and nothing else in the queue moves. Shuffle still applies to the songs the queue started with. Turn shuffle off and on again if you want everything re-dealt, additions included. An artist's album sort now stays the way you set it. Sort a compilation artist by title, leave, come back later, and it is still by title, after a relaunch too. Each artist keeps its own choice. Your favorite band can stay newest-first while Various Artists stays alphabetical, and an artist you have never sorted still opens newest-first. The lock screen and CarPlay no longer fetch your cover art over and over while a song plays. Every progress update handed iOS a fresh copy of the cover, and iOS fetched the full-size image again each time, around 25 times per song right after a track change. On a slower phone, or with large artwork, that backlog left the previous song's title and cover on screen for several seconds after the new one had started. The cover is now handed over once per song. Video files no longer try to open in BitDek. One of the file types BitDek registered with iOS turned out to cover .mp4 videos as well as audio, so a video you downloaded opened BitDek and then nothing happened. BitDek no longer claims that type. Your .m4a music files still open in BitDek from Files exactly as before. Every one of these fixes started as an email from a listener. Keep them coming.
