About ArchitectBuddies
Design, model and understand architecture with AI Buddies at your side, on iPad and Mac. ArchitectBuddies™ is a modelling canvas for the UML® 2.5.1, OMG SysML® v2 and ArchiMate® 3.2 and 4.0 notations, with AI agents that plan, model, review and document your architecture with you. MODEL IN THE STANDARD YOU NEED - Start free in the UML® 2.5.1 and OMG SysML® v2 notations (up to 3 canvases and 25 elements per canvas). - Every element and relationship type, with the notation's rules built in. - Each canvas keeps its own notation and diagram type. Mix notations in one model. - Import and export standard exchange formats, or save everything as one model bundle. ARCHITECTBUDDIES™ PRO - The full UML® and OMG SysML® v2 element sets, unlimited canvases and elements, and export. - AI Buddies: direct One Buddy (a single agent), or hand the work to a Team of specialists led by a Planner. Switch between them with one tap. - Plans you control: write your own plan or let the Planner draft one, then review it before anything starts. Work moves stage by stage, with a gate and a generated document at the end of each stage. - Bundled skills for your Buddies, including AO-AEDM Planner, Enterprise Architect, Quality Assessor, Requirements Manager, View Manager, View Illustrator and Architecture Narrator. ENTERPRISE ARCHITECTURE NOTATION - Full ArchiMate® modelling in the 3.2 and 4.0 notations, with unlimited canvases and ArchiMate® Open Exchange File Format export. - A separate subscription that does not need Pro, with 3 months free. Add Pro as well to let your AI Buddies work on these canvases. YOUR AI, YOUR CHOICE - Use a cloud AI provider with your own API key, a model on your local network (Ollama), or a model running on the device itself. - One switch keeps all AI processing on your device or local network. - Subscriptions do not include API keys for cloud AI services. HELP WHEN YOU NEED IT - Search help, tap any control to see what it does, and try each gesture on your own canvas. Help speaks touch on iPad and mouse and trackpad on Mac. Whether you're a solution architect sketching on the go, an enterprise architect modelling a complex landscape, or a student learning a standard's notation, ArchitectBuddies™ puts professional architecture tooling in your hands. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel them in your Apple Account settings. What’s new
Version 2.0.1 · Updated October 7, 2026
What's new in ArchitectBuddies™ 2.0.1 - ArchiMate® exchange files: exported models now open cleanly in other ArchiMate® modelling tools, and imported files keep their property names. Re-export any previous models that failed to load in another tool. - Google Gemini: agents now get the same full set of tools as with every other AI provider. What's new in ArchitectBuddies™ 2.0 MODEL IN THE STANDARD YOU NEED - Start free in the UML® 2.5.1 and OMG SysML® v2 notations. - The ArchiMate® 4.0 notation now sits alongside ArchiMate® 3.2, with the new Enterprise Architecture Notation subscription (3 months free). - Choose your default notation on the Welcome screen or in Settings. - Touch and hold the Add Canvas button to pick a different notation for a new canvas. - Touch and hold the canvas name to set its diagram type. WORK FASTER ON THE CANVAS - Select one, several or all elements and move them together. - Snap to grid, with an adjustable grid size. - Show or hide the type icon in the corner of each element. - Richer Element Information. - Double-tap an element in Element Information or the Element Selector to find it on the canvas. WORK WITH YOUR BUDDIES - A new chat front door: open the chat and pick how to start, so you never face a blank box. - New plan editor: write your own plan, or let the Planner draft one, then review and change the tasks, owners and checks before anything starts. - Switch between the Team and One Buddy (a single agent) with one tap on the agent mode icon. A loaded plan stays loaded and picks up where it left off when you return to the Team. - When it's your move, a card with buttons appears in the chat: approve a plan, answer a question, or accept a stage. - Each stage ends at a clear gate, with its document ready to review, diagrams included. - Buddies remember your answers and don't ask the same question twice. HELP, REDESIGNED - A new Help home: search, or start from what you want to do. - What's this? Tap any control to see what it does. - Try it: each topic walks you through the gestures on your own canvas. - One sheet of every gesture and keyboard shortcut. - On the Mac, help speaks mouse and trackpad: click, right-click, drag. - A new guide to working with your Buddies, with one Buddy or a Team. - Updated pictures throughout, including every Chat Settings section.
