About CashbackCounter

No shortage of expense trackers. Few answer the question that actually matters — "On this purchase, how much am I actually earning back?" CashbackCounter treats bookkeeping as the means, not the point. Enter each card's real rules once: base rate, category and payment-method bonuses, domestic vs. foreign rates, caps, and how often caps reset. From then on, however a transaction gets recorded, one engine works out the cashback, the points, and how much of your cap you just used. ■ Three ways in, one engine Snap it — Point the camera at a receipt. Merchant, amount, date, and category are filled in, and the right card is picked from the last four digits printed on it. Semi-automatic — Paste a bank SMS into a Shortcut and it posts straight to your ledger. Upload a PDF statement and see exactly which transactions you never recorded. Fully automatic — Link a bank account and transactions arrive on their own. Refunds reverse the original purchase, and both the cashback and the cap usage unwind with it. (US financial institutions only.) ■ An engine that gets the math right A purchase earns three things added together, each with its own separate cap: base rate, category bonus, payment-method bonus. The base rate runs on two tracks, domestic and foreign, capped separately. Caps reset monthly or annually. Dual-currency cards work the way they really do: Hong Kong style, where the second currency counts toward the domestic cap 1:1, and mainland style, where it runs on a separate foreign cap — each with its own rate. Points cards use the same cap logic, then convert to cash value at the per-point valuation you set, with an FX step when that currency differs from the card's. ■ Card wallet and templates Built-in templates cover issuers across mainland China, Hong Kong, and the United States. Pick one and the full rule set comes with it — no typing rates line by line. When a template is updated, cards you already added pick up the new rates on next launch. ■ Multi-currency CNY, HKD, USD, JPY, NZD, TWD, MOP, GBP, EUR. Every transaction stores both the original amount and what your bank actually billed you, so the bank's FX spread stops breaking your numbers. ■ Points and miles A library of points programs, current balances and valuations, a six-month trend curve, and a ledger of every change: earned, redeemed, expired, transferred, gifted, manual. ■ Reporting and export Spending and cashback trends, per-card summaries, and cap usage at a glance. Attach an income record to any expense to see what you actually netted — useful for resale, reimbursements, and promo stacking. Full backup exports as a ZIP — transactions CSV plus your receipt images — and imports back exactly as it left. ■ On privacy With bank sync off, this app talks to no server at all. Everything you record manually lives on your device and in your own iCloud — not uploaded, not collected. Receipt recognition can run entirely on-device, offline. With bank sync on: the server keeps no copy of any transaction — each request is fetched and passed straight back; bank credentials are stored encrypted; and the most detailed account data available is the last four digits, never a full card number. Signing in is not a prerequisite. Only bank sync asks you to sign in. ■ Subscription Manual tracking, the card wallet, receipt recognition, statement analysis, points, and export are free forever, with no entry limits. Premium unlocks one thing: automatic bank sync. · $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year (other regions priced per Apple's local tier) · Both plans include a 1-week free trial · Renews automatically within 24 hours of the period ending unless turned off beforehand · Manage or cancel any time in iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions · Starting the same subscription during a trial forfeits any unused portion of it Privacy Policy: https://ascidean.com/privacy
