About Erev: Shabbat & Kosher
A grocery aisle. A busy Friday. A holiday coming up. Different moments. One app to reach for: Erev. I bring the essentials of Jewish life together in an app you can open without creating an account. Whether you’re practicing, learning or looking something up, go at your own pace. SCAN BEFORE YOU CHOOSE Scan a barcode to see information from the kosher lists you follow, including the source, status and conditions to check. Consistoire, OU and the Amsterdam Beth Din. No barcode? Search by name. Save products, look up fish and learn to recognize kosher symbols used in Israel. A product missing from the lists is not declared non-kosher. An internet connection may be needed to identify it. SHABBAT AT A GLANCE Find candle-lighting and end times for your city, daily prayer times and the calculation method. Widgets and Live Activities keep times within sight. Pick the reminders that fit your routine. MAKE ROOM FOR THE NEXT HOLIDAY A year of holidays, fasts, weekly Torah portions and the Omer count. Choose Israel or the diaspora. Open a holiday guide when you want context, a text or a place to start. GET READY FOR THE HOLIDAY From the home screen, choose a holiday, find its days and times for your city, and note what you want to prepare. Tick things off as you go: I keep your checklist for that holiday on your phone. The calendar follows your Israel or diaspora setting. You can edit and reorder your preparations, reuse an existing checklist with its boxes unticked, and open the holiday guide and its available texts. THE WORDS FOR YOUR MOMENT Prayers in Hebrew, transliteration and translation, a choice of prayer rite, blessings by food and 613 mitzvot with their references. An apple, bread, a meal: find the words you need. A compass points toward Jerusalem when location and heading are available. FEEL THE NEW YEAR Around Rosh Hashanah, a seasonal space opens until Yom Kippur. Sound the shofar with a press of your finger, then share your call with your own words. Write to your future self and seal your letter for next year. Play with the simanim, the symbolic holiday foods: eight boards, a Challenge mode with a timer and limited assists, plus a Relax mode. Your letter stays on your phone. Keeping it depends on that device and its backups. EASY TO TRY French, English, Spanish and Hebrew. No account required. Optional in-app purchases let you support the project. Ads are limited to the seasonal space; times, the scanner, the calendar and prayers stay ad-free. I name my sources and their conditions. I don’t replace your rabbi. Open Erev. Choose your city. Start with what you need. [email protected]
What’s new
Version 3.8.0 · Updated September 24, 2026
A holiday is coming: let me help you get ready. From the home screen, find the holiday’s days and times for your city. Add your preparations, tick off what is done and find your checklist when you return. Each holiday has its own checklist, kept on your phone, with no account. You can edit and reorder your preparations, reuse an existing checklist with its boxes unticked, and open the holiday guide and its available texts. Home is shorter: the prayer for now moves up, holidays and preparations are grouped together, and the calendar keeps the full programme. On your first launch after updating, discover 3.8 and try holiday preparations directly. You can reopen this introduction from “What’s new”. I have also refined Coca-Cola Original recognition, corrected the day count when Shabbat and a holiday follow one another, and fixed how Hoshana Rabbah appears in the calendar. Information about the Beth Din of Amsterdam list has been updated. Available in French, English, Spanish and Hebrew.
